We went for lunch and as it was a beautiful day we had a table outside. You can either choose from the lunch menu or opt for the set three course deal at 17 euros. Choosing a la carte costs about 10 euros more. We opted for the set deal and wasn’t disappointed. Each course was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were helpful. This is a hidden gem and well worth a visit. Thoroughly recommend.

The location above a weir on the Aveyron river is very pretty as is the village of Varen itself. The restaurant itself is set is a nicely restored watermill complete with preserved machinery and views of the river below.

Even better was the food itself! The scallops St Jacques were cooked perfectly, the local beef steak was delicious. The millefeuille dessert was outstanding. One of the very best meals we have had in France.

The menu offered a good range of dishes to suit most budgets. Starters from around 5 to 12 euros, mains from 12 to 28 euros, wines by the glass or bottles from 15 to 50 euros. Considering there quality of the food this was good value for money.

We had dinner at Le Moulin on two occasions, because the food was just excellent - the best experience we had in France this time. Very nice outdoor seating. Highly recommended.

We visited this delightful restaurant with friends for lunch based on the TA recommendations and were not disappointed. Besides the menu du jour, 3 courses for €17, there was a good choice of a la Carte options available. We went for the menu du jour and was butternut squash soup with crepes to start followed by duck fillets on a bed of mash potato and leeks and for dessert, coconut tart with raspberry jus with vanilla ice cream. Two pichets of red wine and two coffees, total €90. Good value, well presented and certainly recommended.
