Just finished a very enjoyable breakfast. Selection is good - French toast, eggs Benedict, omelettes, yogurt and muesli, fry up etc. Very well priced given the setting. Gardens are beautiful, so give yourself time to wander through. Service could be more attentive and meals take a while to arrive, but if you are not in a hurry its all good. Good facilities for kids, activities and a great play area.

The beautiful gardens more than make up for the lack of service. I often spend hours just walking through the gardens looking at plants in season.

Wine is good in the adults only bar area. Worth a visit.

Booked a table two weeks prior for a 40 the lunch with family from Zimbabwe and specifically asked for a table in restaurant. We arrived 30 mins early and were told table would be ready. At time booked we were then told sorry they don't have a table undercover.

Restaurant manager was not at all interested in what we had booked. We thus left. Definitely won't be back......it spoilt a birthday that we really wanted to spend with 8 adults and 6 kids

Makaranga is a most picturesque and relaxing venue for eating out, particularly during the day when the beautiful botanical garden can also be enjoyed. Although there is a restaurant, eating out on the deck, weather permitting is wonderful and there is also a covered area on the deck, if preferred. The menu is reasonably priced and the food is of a good quality. Service is very efficient. Recommended!

I visited this restaurant on 28th March 2016 (Easter Monday) with my girlfriend. Beautiful venue and gardens. Restaurant was extremely busy and we had to sit in the bar area which is really nice and comfortable. Service was a slow and painful process, some patrons were served even though they arrived after other patrons, so service was a bit inconsistent and depended on your waiter/ress.

...45 minutes later, still no drinks and food after placing our order. 50 minutes for drinks to arrive, 110 minutes for food to arrive. The waiter did come several times to apologize but by then we just wanted our food and drinks. We ordered a single Jameson and Windhoek lager, how hard can it be to serve...apparently it is!!!

Then our food arrived, Thai food board... Looked amazing, we were so hungry. Food tasted good until we realize that the spring rolls were raw on the inside, squid was overcook ( rubbery) and the Thai fish cakes tasted like shop bought I&J or Sea Harvest fish cakes :(... So did not finish the thai board as we were so disappointed and quiet annoyed that their was nothing Thai on our Thai board.

Would definitely not recommend this place for eating. We were so disappointed that we did not even bother to tour their beautiful gardens.
