I haven't ever felt more African. A one - night stay at this jewel of Africa is simply not enough. Prepare to leave with a stiff neck ... there's so much to see and experience.

The only stress was the steep entrance to the hotel.

Although I never got to meet the owner, Peter, I feel like I've known him forever. Thanks for sharing your legacy in this very special way ...

I stayed here for 3 nights. This is a very nice place to stay. The deco is unbelievable. If you are not sure where you are, at Ammazulu you WILL know you are in AFRICA.
Breakfast was fresh and more than enough. Rooms are the size of a house and clean. Each room has a wonderful view over the kloof(Valley) with nice bird song and monkeys.
WiFi not bad.

The only thing i will change in my room is to be able to make it darker.

Wanted to see this place as it looks amazing and we managed to get a deal on our stay. Easy to find with satnav, but be prepared for an almost off-road steep climb to the palace. The driveway is very bumpy and a small engined vehicle will struggle to get up the hill.

Inside the decor is amazing. Literally too much for your eyes to handle. We were shown to our room and again the rooms are very spacious and decorated throughout. But unfortunately the decorated rugs on the floor are very dirty, and the hard wooden furniture in the lounge are uncomfortable. Some of the taps in the bathroom didn’t work or were broken. The room has tea and coffee and nothing else. No mini bar, no bottled water available, nothing in the way of food. To get food and drink you need to go back into Kloof. The bar inside the hotel is for functions only. After 8pm if we needed anything we were given a phone number for a staff member who lived 5km away.

The palace itself is beautiful, definitely worth seeing. Unfortunately it’s the service that lets it down. It seems there’s not enough staff to run the place, the gardens and trees all need trimming back. If you’re going to spend a night here just make sure you take some supplies.

Excellent and quirky hotel with attentive staff, stayed in the presidential suite and was stunned by the views from the room, unoverlooked so we could lay in bed with the curtains open studying the stars

What a true oasis and a real find. Absolutely stunning both inside and outside. Wonderful staff and great location. Four poster beds and five-star bathrooms. Not to be missed. Great English breakfast and plenty of restaurants locally with great choice and not expensive.
