Boydells Dairy Farm

This is how Boydell’s Dairy Farm describes itself on their leaflet. I couldn’t agree more. We went with our grandson during the Easter holidays. The farm was packed with youngsters, but the farmer kept up a running commentary about the animals that kept the kids enthralled and the adults entertained with his jokes. You can milk a cow, bottle feed lambs watch the rare sight of a sheep milking parlour in one of the few dairy farms left. Unlike the more commercial children’s ‘farms’ the entrance price is modest and fantastic value for money. Be warned though, children are allowed to play, so welly boots and suitable clothing. Fantastic fun!

Our two grandchildren (8 And 6) and ourselves thoroughly enjoyed our trip today. We all loved the 'hands on' sessions and the farmer's interesting tour. We all came away with new information. Thank you.

Went here today, this was our first visit. There was a queue to get in but it went really quickly and added bonus is you could see through into the farm whilst queuing so got to see the cow being milked. It is very reasonably priced and the feed is cheap at 50p a bag. They had a full day’s programme as it was the holidays, afternoon being the same as the morning so you won’t miss anything. I took my 4 year old and she loved it. She was able to hold a 10 day old kid and an 8 day old lamb and bottle fed a lamb as well as brush the coat of a pony. It is great to go to a farm that hasn’t been made into an attraction with unnecessary things and just to be able to see a farm as it is and be hands on and involved. All the staff were very friendly and are more than happy to answer questions you have and they also make sure everyone is able to have a turn. We took a picnic and sat on one of the benches in the picnic area opposite the entrance to the farm. There was plenty of parking space and you were directed on where to park. We spent 4 hours there and as we were leaving some people were arriving. I didn’t do the tour of the animals with the farmer but by the bits I did catch, it sounded really good to hear all about the animals there and I will definitely do that when I go back. We didn’t manage the tractor ride either as we left before it started running so will be good to do that also. Highly recommend to go here and I definitely will be going back.

This farm is lovely. Not expensive to get in and we saw a lamb being born!

There were lots of sheep, lambs, calves, cows, goats, kids, chickens and chicks to stroke and feed. Animal feed was only 50p a bag.

There was somewhere to get tea, coffee and snacks but no cafe. We had a short drive into Fitchingfield for a lovely lunch in the Greedy Duck and then went back to the farm.

This was a lovely family day out. My 6 year old loved it!

Absolutely love it here, a fantastic hands on experience with animals for all the family. Staff are all friendly and helpful, they always have time to stop and talk to you.
We visited Easter bank holiday after the horrendous wet weather forcing many other businesses to close due to flooded car parks. However this did not stop Boydells, despite the main car park being flooded, staff managed to park cars where possible, it was very organised and stress free.
My family had a great time, and we will definitely be back over the summer.
