Reviewed 22 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Thanks to the owners' careful and considerate management Avonlea Cottage is very clean and comfortable with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.Staying at the cottage, breakfasting at The Smithy Cafe(friendly and serving good food), walking in this wonderful region, then dining at The Bull's Head pub (also friendly and serving excellent meals), helped make our break so relaxing and enjoyable. We hope to return.

We aspire to provide the same warm, welcoming and enjoyable cottage holiday experience for all our guests.
Avonlea is ideally situated in the village of Monyash, to take full advantage of excellent meals served at both Smithy Cafe and The Bullshead pub, which are just 150 metres from our doorstep.

“Comfortable and relaxing”
Reviewed 17 March 2013 for a stay in March 2013

Cottage very comfortable for two people, nice wood burner for evenings in.
Flowers and bubbly nice touch for arrival and property had all essentials available for use if required. All areas of peak district easily reached from cottage with many local walks straight from cottage. Lathkill and Monsal dales worth the effort at anytime of the year.
Chatsworth estate nearby and can be reached with nice walk from Bakewell.

Local pub The Bull has good food friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff.

Avonlea was renovated with couples in mind being a warm, cosy and a peaceful place to relax in comfort. Its central village location means guests can walk to the village pub in about 2 minutes and enjoy first class food. So there's really no need to cook or do the dishes if you dont want to.

“Homely little cottage, good location to explore the Peak District”
Reviewed 19 October 2012 for a stay in October 2012

Our stay was cut short by a couple of days but that didnt stop us enjoying our trip to the Peak District. This cottage is a well presented little place with everything you need to make you feel at home. The cosy living room with the log fire (finally!) burning is a great place to wind down after a long walk in nearby Dovedale.

“Perfect one bedroom cottage in lovely setting”
Reviewed 12 October 2012 for a stay in September 2012

We stayed at this lovely cottage for three nights in September. It is difficult to find one bedroomed properties and we usually end up paying for two which always seems such a waste. The bedroom and bathroom are generously sized for such a small cottage and the lounge is very cosy. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and leads on to a charming garden overlooking fields. We were there primarily for the walking and were not disappointed. Walks straight from the front door are delightful. We also walked part of the Monsal Trail from Bakewell and can recommend the coffee at Hassop Station. This was our first time in the Peak District and we will certainly be back. So much to see and do in this area. Chris, the owner, was very friendly on the phone. We highly recommend this cottage and will be back for a longer stay next time.

Liked best: Location and how cosy the cottage was
Liked least: Water pressure of shower but in such an old property there are bound to be minor drawbacks

What lovely comments from a couple who really enjoyed their first visit to the peak district and appreciated our one bedroomed cottage, with its central location in the peaks. We look forward to welcoming you back.
