I took 2 visitors from the US here, and we all enjoyed it immensely -- so many things to see, so very interesting, and a really informative history of kauri and kauri gum. We spent 3 hours, and wished we had double the time. It is expensive, but absolutely worth it -- both for the visitor and to support the amazing effort that goes into this.

I wasn't too sure what to expect in this museum, but I was very impressed with everything I saw, The collection is quite extensive, and I learned a lot about the kauri timber and gum industry. It is definitely worth a visit. Plan to spend some time here.

This museum has a number of static lifesize displays, amazing samples of all types of wood, as well as fantastic information. photos and pieces of Kauri including furniture, and pieces crafted in Kauri gum. Really really well done and we all enjoyed the visit a lot.

My teenage boys of course were hungry afterwards so we headed across the road to the Gundiggers Cafe who make the most filling and amazing pies. Good value for price.
