“Perfect house & location for our great annual family holiday.”
Reviewed 26 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Fabulous coastal walks & scenery, Hartland Quay is a must see !! Lots of sand beaches to choose from & Clovelly is a nice attraction but use the local path to avoid entrance fees.
The Village has 3 Pubs, local shop & bakery coffee shop & they are all very friendly & helpful to help with making our holiday a great one.
The house is very large & easily accommodated my family of 7 adults & 5 kids aged 3-11.
Large garden with rope swing that the kids had hours of fun on.
It was my grandson's birthday whilst we were there so we had a BBQ in the garden & ordered a sponge birthday cake from the local bakery/coffee shop & it was wickedly delicious so we ordered another one to take home.
Deborah thanks very much again for our fantastic annual holiday in Grade || listed home.
I would definitely recommend this home.

Thanks
Daren.

Charter House is home from home, 11 of us stayed ranging from 8 years old to 66 years old, we celebrated 4 birthdays in the week we were there and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Both The Anchor and The Kings Arms are great for food and staff are lovely too.
Round and about we visited many beautiful places, I would recommend a visit to Hartland Abbey, the walk to the beach is so peaceful and the views are lovely.
Also, The Warhorse country farm is a must, especially for anyone who's read the book or watched the film.
A fabulous week had by all of us. Thank you

“Old and in need of a refurb. ”
Reviewed 22 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We stayed here with a family of 10 over the summer to celebrate a big birthday. There were four children in the group and the house wasn't good for them at all.

The house is old and the furniture is dated. It smells, it's damp and one child stood in dog poo in the back garden.

One TV had no signal and the CD player's knob came off in my hand. The cd's are broken and mixed up too.

It's next door to the church (which is no longer a church) who's bell goes off every hour throughout the night waking us all up.

This house might have been nice once, and it's on a beautiful town, but there needs to be some money spent on this house.

Charter house is a listed Georgian property overlooking Hartland village square within a conservation area. Having had many positive reviews and comments in the guest book we were a little surprised by some of your comments. We are in the process of replacing the bedroom furniture. We trust that guests after using our CDs return them to the correct cases undamaged and clear up after their dogs; sadly this is not always the case. As the grass is cut/checked during changeover and the previous guests did not have a dog we are not sure how dog poo got in the garden. We do say to contact us if you have any problems and wish that you had as we would have come around to try and resolve them. Thank you for your review we welcome all feedback as it helps us to make improvements to ensure our guests have as pleasurable a stay as possible.
