It’s not often in life that everything is perfect.
It was on Saturday the 1st of September- for our son and new daughter in law’s superb innovative wedding meal followed by a larger wedding party with outdoor food and drink , marquee, live music, hay bale seating, games, parking, warm evening air, dark skies showing the creamy smear of the Milky Way, barn owls , bats plenty of accommodation on site including cottages (Pattard Farm) , on site camping field and other places to stay within walking distance in Hartland. 9
We booked Bjorn’s restaurant for the night and he made meal and wine suggestions for the lucky 28 as well as organised the hog roast and buffet for the other 40 evening guests.
All was perfect including the atmosphere on the day and the memories will last forever.

Lovely restaurant. We all admired the lighting. Scallop starter was fantastic, white chocolate and coffee with them sounded weird but it was delicious. The monkfish main was unavailable which most of us wanted but the chicken was great as was the duck. Puds were great especially the pineapple tarte tatin. Good wine list and the whole meal was very reasonable. You must try it out

The ambience is a casual as a designer chic restaurant.
No table clothes on Wooden tables with modern, Stark style canteen chairs.
Reasonable selection of wines by the glass.
2 courses for £32 or 3 for £40.
Not a huge menu but well executed.
We had the salmon on Samphire and the chicken with haricot beans, also the duck.
All well presented, plus the mixed seasonal vegetables.
A fine dining food restaurant in a country setting.
Only about 20 covers and although not busy when we visited I imagine it could be at weekends.

We found out about Pattard Kitchen by recommendation and were absolutely delighted (once we've found it)
Fantastic view of the kitchen through an old fashioned picture frame, outstanding food and very friendly and competent staff....I was invited by my husband for my last two birthdays and hope to spend my next one there as well....

We stay locally regularly, and this is the second time we have been to the restaurant. Both have been absolutely first rate experiences. This time was a Wednesday night and there were only six of us there - such a shame as so much work and skill has gone into the product. It meant that the whole thing felt very personal - just the chef/patron in his open plan kitchen and one local waitress. Each of the courses and amuses bouche was of the very highest quality both in terms of cooking and presentation - we had smoked eel (with aerated white chocolate!) and tofu to start, then falafels and pork belly (as pictured on this page at the moment) then ice cream and a superb peanut butter parfait. Serious London-quality cooking, at half the price, and in a relaxed informal setting suitable for this beautiful rural location.
