(because sometimes it helps to know who is writing the review… ) We are a typical, American middle-class traveling family. It doesn't take a RitzCarlton to please us; a Hampton Inn works just fine.... But it was so nice to stay at a large, rustic-looking place with many, many accommodations!
If you are doing the "National Parks Vacation Thing", this place is the shizzle! Quiet, clean, SUPER SPACIOUS, and super close to Zion National Park. I wish I could go back tomorrow.
We just came here from the Grand Canyon. Our family of 7 was super stoked to have the numerous bedrooms, living rooms and HUGE kitchen. Bring your ENO; there are lots of great hammock trees!
The only disappointment was with Zion. The views are spectacular and the drive in is breathtaking; however, if you get to the park after 8 am THERE IS NO PARKING. For real, NOT ONE SPACE, and we were at the park mid-week. It's frustrating to come all this way from the east coast and not be able to enjoy a national park because park planners could not build a big enough parking lot! We had just hiked the ENTIRE Grand Canyon the day before arriving at Zion, and we didn't want to have to wake up at 6 AM again that first morning. NOPE. If you want to really explore the park, be prepared to get up super early.
Zion Ponderosa Ridge Resort, though? AWESOME.
We flew into Vegas, spent two nights there then drove to Buffalo Ridge for three nights. This house was perfect for the four of us. It was spotless and beautiful. It had everything we could possibly want. We were supposed to hike some trails in Zion, but there was a rock fall that would not let us through via the East entrance. There was a detour but we decided to hike Bryce then spend one day at the house, the guys hiked around the area and found a trail to a spring, the women folk enjoyed an afternoon at the pool. The hot tub was amazing to sit in watching the moon and stars and enjoying the serenity. The owner recomended some restaurants and was on the money! We loved the Painted Pony in St. George so much that we ate there for lunch on the way to and from the house! The chicken sandwich, salad and clams and linguine were FANTASTIC! Our friends also had the BLT with fresh Heirloom tomatoes and the burger, both amazing. We alos had dinner at the Rocking V in Kanab. It was fantastic and the owner a wonderfully nice man. We missed the walmart in Hurricane so had to stop at Sols in Springdale. We found all that we needed, but it was pricey. Note: we bought paper towels, laundry supplies, toilet tissue, dish soap, salt and pepper and napkins...but all that plus shampoos and soap was at the house. We loved the house so much that we grilled out two of the three nights, chicken one night and pork loin the next! A great place to get groceries once at the house is Honey's SupermRket in Kanab, they had a great selection and were very reasonable! We hiked the queens trail in Bryce, it was beautiful. Some advice if you come in late september as we did, visit Cedar Breaks Monument Park, the aspen trees were changing colors, the yellows, reds and oranges contrasting against the evergreens, deep blue skies and rock formations were gorgeous! The owner of the house provides suggestions for shopping, hiking and dining...the ones we followed were perfect! Note, bars in utah require you to order food with your drink, this was annoying when you just wanted to have a cocktail. We are from ohio so a vacation like this is not an annual event, but if we lived closer it would be. Thank you to the owner for providing sharing his wonderful piece of heaven. We hope to visit again...

Excellent property, our family of 10 had plenty of room. House was clean and well cared for. Resort nearby has swimming pool and amenities. Only downside was that its several miles from the park but it is in a secure quiet area.
John was so easy to deal with and was very quick in responses to any questions. The information regarding the area he provided was very useful. The house is well laid out and worked perfectly for our group. Since we had a car, I found that being away from Springdale was nice in the evenings and enjoyed the drive through East Zion and the Checkerboard Mesa area every morning as we ventured into the park. This location is more convenient than staying in Springdale, if one is planning a trip to Bryce Canyon or Coral Pink Sand Dunes State park.
