“The vista changes with the sun”
Reviewed 9 November 2011

This is such a beautiful spot to view the canyon and is very near free shuttles that take you westward to other great spots.
Be sure to go through the gallery nearby.

“Lovely”
Reviewed 19 October 2011

I'm an avid hiker and this really is a very short and easy walk for a healthy person. We watched the sunset and loved every minute of it. If you are afraid of heights (which I am) be aware that this could test your nerves. It is surrounded by fencing and I never felt fearful or in danger in any way. I did see a poor lady walking like she was deathly afraid, poor thing.

The trail forks and if you choose to take the fork, it runs along the bottom of the lodge. There are other overlooks you can go out onto and stairs that take you up on to the lodge sun decks. Beautiful!

“Great view of the canyon; trail seemed longer than advertised”
Reviewed 31 July 2011

This trail is billed as 0.5 miles round trip (it's an out and back), leaving from near the Visitor Center at the North Rim. It felt like more than 1/4 mile, though. The trail goes up and down and has some rough sections (probably not wheelchair friendly). My kids were able to hike it without too much effort, although the youngest (3) got tired on the way back.

This is worth seeing for a great overview of the canyon from the North Rim (there are some nice signs that identify what's what for you). Just be aware that it has some steep sections and you may need a little more time than expected to get to the point and back.
