By the afternoon, this place was getting kinda crowded, but well worth the stop. Great photo opportunity.

This is a relatively short drive to another awesome view. I don’t remember any overlooks or vistas on the drive. Point Imperial is the reason for the drive.

Point Imperial is a 3 mile side trip off of the Cape Royal Drive on the North Rim. All of the viewpoints on the drive to Cape Royal are worth a visit. I thought Point Imperial was the best viewpoint second to Cape Royal. Cape Royal is considered one of the "Grand Slam Viewpoints" in the GCNP along with Bright Angel Point, Point Sublime and Toroweap. The drive might look a little long when looking at the map but it is not to be missed! I have wanted to visit for some time and finally did it. I was there the last week of October, right before the North Rim closes for the season.

The drive travels through densely forested areas with a couple of viewpoints that offer nice views of the canyon.

The Point Imperial Point drive is approx. 2.5 miles from the "Y" intersection off the Cape Ryal Scenic Drive! At Point Imperial you have wonder views to the east w/ the Vermillion Cliffs the the far distance! At 8800 feet elevation the temps in October can be quite cool and if windy very chilly! Well worth the visit!
