North rim view points are amazing and easy to do even if you don't hike the overlooks are amazing within steps of your car.

Nice views Big picnic area and rest rooms. Easy rim hikes near by. Leave about 2 hours to enjoy the area.

As stated, this is the highest point of the Grand Canyon (including both rims) at approximately 8,800 feet above see level. From this height you're rewarded with a commanding view of the canyon itself, with the San Francisco mountains visible beyond the South Rim, and views of the Echo and Vermilion Cliffs to the northeast. There's clean pit toilets, potable water, and picnic tables here perfect for an outdoor lunch. The point is roughly an eleven mile drive from the lodge which is curvy and gains in elevation, but the scenery provided from the drive itself is amazing. We've been here several times in the last three years and have never seen the parking lot at Point Imperial full, and even if there's lots of visitors there's plenty of room to spread out and find a place of your own. Visiting this spot and taking it all in is certainly worthwhile, the Point Imperial Trail on the other hand, not so much. I'd recommend hiking one of the trails at or around Cape Royal instead of the one at Point Imperial. It's very easy to do both Point Imperial and Cape Royal in the same day, and I'd highly recommend seeing both instead of one or the other. Be aware that if you're coming towards the opening or closing of the North Rim (March and October respectively) that snow will easily make the roads to both Point Imperial and Cape Royal impassable so be sure to check the Grand Canyon North Rim website for closures.

It is a short jaunt to the point from the parking lot. It is beautiful to see the immense canyon. What makes it nice is there are a few benches that you can just sit and reflect and enjoy nature at her best.
If you only have a short time to visit it is probably the closest vista to the entrance. No real hikes here just the view!

Everywhere you go at the North Rim the views are fantastic. This is about 11 mile drive from the North Rim Lodge but once there you can see the views from the parking area. Worth a visit
