“Disappointed and overpriced”

Fantastic view, but appartment smaller that expected its a modern batchelor pad on the fourth floor with no lift (80 steps up) from waterfront. The stairway often smells like a toilet.Parking is a problem if trying to park at top level (only 50 steps), we never managed it in 7 days better to park on Waterfront but 80 steps to climb can be painful after a day out.
The balcony is 30 feet long but very narrow. The appartment has a lot of light switches, trying to remember what is what is frustrating. The main TV in the lounge was not tuned in, when asked Doreen the housekeeper for advice she was not interested. The coffee machine was top drawer if you can work it (not a lot of people can). There are 3 keys to this appartment (not marked) so always a problem when getting in and out especially at night. There is a torch in the appartment but it did not work, we pointed this out to the housekeeper but again she was not interested.
We arrived on a Sunday the sheets had been but on the bed not ironed although there had been no previous rental for 4 days, houskeeper said she had not had time to iron sheets.
On our day of departure we were hasstled to get out by the housekeeper at 8.30am despite having agreed on arrival that we would be out at 10am (note.. we were informed new arrivals due in at 4pm)
Overall good location some good local restaurants but be prepared for slow service when busy

Myself and Hubby stayed at this lovely apartment and from opening the door to our sad goodbye, we were taken by the heart.

The views are to die for, ever changing as you would expect from a busy port, on some days we stayed at the Apartment and had lunch on the terrace as it was such a stunning view, we just wanted to make the most of it and not miss a thing, its ever changing views from the boats coming in to the locals sitting under our terrace fishing and talking most evenings.

Senglea is still untouched by the horrid tourism that can be found in Malta, the local people are so friendly, we even got invited to our neighbours for dinner - they made us so welcome and will remain friends for life.

Beware of the many steps and steep hills, if you are, like me non fit it can be hard work and where the Apartment is you have to go up where ever you go! (Would of been nice to have a lift!)

You have your own Garage which you can use but we just parked the car in front of it and it was fine, just the amount of steps back up to the Apartment is rather a slog!

There are a few shops that sell what you will need along with a regular bus route that is very easy to use, if you order a Taxi, tell them its near the Senglea Rowing Club or they will never find you, most do not know "The Cave of the White Lady" which we were told to tell them!

There are a few Restaurants along the Marina front which you can walk to, mostly Pizza and fast food, but good enough for a simple meal and well priced.

There are no beaches in Senglea but the locals swim off the point near the Rowing Club on most mornings and evenings, but beware the Harbour does have quite a bit of rubbish floating around!

Buy bottled water, its not safe to drink, local wine and beer is cheap as are cigarettes.

All in all we loved Malta, we loved the Apartment, we did not like the steps and the heat was unbearable at times so the Aircon was a must every day and at night as well, although a little noisey!

This is a stunning Apartment, lacks a few touches as the coffee machine was very tempermental and some of the cooking utensils are a little worn, but overall we had a fantastic time.

Magical Malta - we will return!

Tracy
