Quite a grand building with easy access from A1 and A19 . We were there as guests to a wedding . The staff were helpful the food superb and the rooms good size. All in all I would recommend it for a special weekend break , lots of grounds to walk in or sit in gardens. We had booked for a twin but given a large double which could have been put into twin had we asked. also a blind would not drop and bed light not working all things that could have been put right HAD we asked but who can be bothered . It didn't spoil it for us but a shame to not have been checked.

Excellent wedding venue, beautiful grounds and friendly, helpful staff. We had beautiful weather too which added to the delightful day. It meant breakfast could be served outside as well.
We all had a brilliant day in such a different venue.
Thank you to all.

Dear lel21
Thank you for your lovely comments following your recent wedding at the castle, I am sure the team will be delighted to read your comments.

We are delighted that you appreciate this ancient castle, which has a wealth of history, told by its magnificent 18th century interiors, which lend its self perfectly for such an occasion.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon

For a wedding castle it was very basic
The reception was like walking into a shed with a bench inside
The bar was the same
The bedroom was a disgrace
£130 a room I've stayed in better b&b
The wedding room you couldn't swing a cat around in it .so too the dance area.the surroundings ok in good weather
I certainly wouldn't recommend it

Dear rusticma
Thank you for your constructive review following your recent visit to Hazlewood Castle. We are sorry you felt strongly enough to share your views within this community. I do hope the team were able to help, if you brought it to our attention during your stay. I have no record of any comments relating to your views here.

I note your comments about the reception area, this area is richly decorated in 18th century ornate architecture, the Great Hall is decorated in the neo-classical style of the mid-eighteenth century, with rising Doric style pillars and semi-vaulted ornate ceilings throughout, I am sorry this is not to your taste.

I am delighted to be able to say that the Bride and Groom had a wonderful day.

Yours sincerely

Stayed for a night. Staff very friendly and the building is beautiful including the scenery.
But for £130 for the night was hoping the room would have a little more pazazz.
Quite dated and dusting doesn't seem to exist above eye level or behind the the blinds.
Our glass in the bathroom had a sticky residue in it and my tea cup was soiled around the edge.
Just a little more pride in work would make all the difference.
Self service breakfast was a plenty.
But staff in scruffy shoes and carrying trays that look like they've never been washed just makes you wonder about the rest of the cleanliness and hygiene in place.

The whole team worked brilliantly.

In particular Jenny and Emma, the event managers, did an outstanding job of looking after us on the day. We really appreciated Jenny being introduced to us as Emma left, and Emma was brilliant at ensuring we were happy with all proceedings and set ups. The glass of champagne outside the ceremony room was very welcome!

The concierge team Steve and Nick brilliantly grafted to help things run so smoothly also.

All the waiting staff and kitchen staff served all the guests brilliantly and kept them full and satisfied.

The service of everyone was truly outstanding and we would happily recommend the castle as a wedding venue.
