We go to Dorset in search of a new home, we are on an adventure. We have a dog, this is a problem apparently and we must be relegated to the ranks of other anti-social individuals like smokers or members of Al-Qaeda. That’s not true, smokers and nutter terrorists are often more welcome than dog owners. Things are so desperate we consider buying a caravan and wearing socks with sandals and then a miracle happens and we ring Tewkesbury Cottage. Yes they have a room and yes the dog can stay. Hooray, the adventure s saved.

Tewkesbury Cottage is four hundred years old and it’s a cottage. This comes as a surprise to some folk who imagine that small historic cottages should have en suite facilities. They don’t but they do have rather nice bathrooms with all mod cons like hot water and electric light. This again comes as a surprise to some folk. The bathrooms are spotlessly clean as indeed is everywhere meaning that Jackie must be one of Britain’s hardest working housewives. The bedrooms are small but they were built when people were smaller, the beds are big and comfortable and there is enough storage space for everything you can think to bring with you.

Some places display signs saying “well behaved dog’s welcome here”. Well that means we shouldn’t even try ours being a vicious little devil who believes other dogs are unnecessary. Dogs aren’t so much welcomed here as positively encouraged and bribed with sausage in the mornings which probably went some way to moderating her behaviour towards other dogs. Our small dog loved it here and really made herself at home and the lack of the usual silly rules about dogs in hotels added to our stay.

The breakfasts are huge and really set you up for the day and a small dog welcomed the leftovers. All in all this is a brilliant little B&B and somewhere we will certainly return to again.

I stayed there for 3 nights and here goes a few points:

I was in a twin room which was small, but are you going to Lulworth for staying in the room or for the landscape?
The price were really good, and the common bathrooms were very clean.

The breakfest was one of the best Full English I ever had in the UK.. and the amount of food was enormous.

It is a dog friendly BB, and my friend was very well treated, including sausages for his breakfest (he loved).

The owners of the place (Bob and Jackie) are very keen to help with anything you need.

Summarizing: if you are expecting luxory then find a more expensive place to be, but in the other hand, if you need just a pleasant and clean place to crash, that's the best option.

A great few days in this cosy thatched cottage in a fantastic location. You can walk from the door to the beautiful Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Jackie and Bob made us very welcome.
This must be the most dog friendly B and B we have stayed in!
Bella sat under the breakfast table awaiting her sausage from Bob,while we tucked into what must be the biggest breakfast served anywhere in Dorset!
We had a lovely dinner in the little hotel a few steps from the cottage and there is a very dog friendly pub up the lane too.A lovely break, thanks for your warm hospitality.

We knocked on Jackie's door yesterday afternoon . She welcomed us in with a delicious smile and showed us to. a comfy en suite room. The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and we wished we could have stayed longer.
The cottage is thatched with beautiful hanging baskets.
