get here early - they queue to go the baths here
lots of pools and play areas and hot water jaccuzi types without the bubbles
my favourite the outdoor 50 m pool , it was minus 2 630am and the pool is in the dark and at 28 degrees c , had to do a few lengths - be aware no chlorine so you have to shower naked before going in the pool and make sure you do so when you come out too -costs about £6

This is a great outing for everyone and I highly recommend a visit. One thing I have to warn is that you will be required to bathe, without a suit on, in an open shower area. You must be clean upon entering the pool. No one cares what you look like, they only care that you are clean, honest!! Don't let it stop you though because it's such a great place for everyone. There are hot tubs, lap pool, indoor pool, a sauna and a good gym. It's one of the best swimming pools in the area.

The quintessential swimming pool...for locals it is a much-healthier alternative to meeting at a bar. So many things to do...the huge water slide, the freezing cold water pots and the trip to the sauna...so well kept up and wrapped in the super friendly Icelandic love of life that everyone here has.

The swim lanes are 50 m! it was luxurious not having to turn around every 25 m.

If you have a City Pass, you can enter any of the city's geothermal pools at no extra charge! This is an amazing deal, but entry on its own is also a steal!

For North Americans, they may feel uncomfortable with the locker room rules. Everyone must shower in the nude with soap and water before entering the pool. It is also amazing they have this practice because the water isn't a fraction of the chemical solution it is in Canada and the US. If everyone is clean, they don't need as much chlorine. Their locker rooms are very comfortable and lockers large. Everything is dry and no shoes are allowed so you actually feel clean getting dressed; there is a hairdryer. The wrist band is so easy you don't have to carry a key or even remember your code.

Bring a towel.

In the evenings after a tour, or day of sightseeing, I enjoyed coming to soak in the hot pots for an hour before bed. It was amazing. I kind of want to keep it a secret but it was so great to be and see as a local.
