The pond in Ueno park is filled with so much beauty. Lots of bird life, fish (huge fish) and turtles. The lotuses grow prolifically and their bright pink flowers contrast against the intense green of the leaves. Walk around the pond, although large in size it doesn't take long to see it from all angles.

A real asset to the town. A lovely little lake right next to the train station.

Open and free night and day.

One of the many beautiful spots in Ueno Park. A large pond with lots of wildlife and cool views of the city beyond the trees. Photograph the thousands of lotus plants, watch the huge koi swimming and maybe even take a swan boat for a ride if you are young at heart!

The large lake/pond is surrounded by cherry blossoms and willow trees, making it nice to get great pictures of reflections in the water. There are some high rise buildings, making a great contrast of modern life and peaceful park life.

It is part of the Ueno Park, no entrance fee. A great path to stroll around lake/pond side. Since it was spring, water lilies were not full grown yet. We saw a lot of birds during our visit.

We arrived at the pond early in the morning in order to avoid a large crowd of people. While Someiyoshino sakura was in full bloom in Ueno Park above Shinobazu Pond, Someiyoshino around the pond had many buds to open in a couple of days time. But dark pink cherry blossoms were in full bloom. It was very beautiful.
