What a joke. Worst experience I've ever had

AVOID! What a strange, dingy, shocking hotel. This place is stinking, smoke everywhere, the capsule door is a see through mat and it stinks. Lots of strange men wondering and you cannot wait to leave. When you wake up the next morning (if you got any sleep), you realise you are bang in the middle of a seedy sex district. Its cheap for a reason and I wish we had read the reviews before going.

Me and a friend stayed here purely for the novelty of trying a capsule hotel on our trip to Japan. From the pictures it looked decent, it was cheap and it was in Shinjuku. We were absolutely horrified when we arrived! - It's in the middle of a red light district, smoking is allowed seemingly all over the building, the capsules do not shut they just have a cover which you pull down but this doesn't stop the smoke seeping in. And people are smoking 24/7 in this place. I woke up pretty much every hour coughing up second hand smoke coming from the surrounding capsules. If you want to clean yourself it's a shared-style bath/showers, there's cameras in the toilet pointing at the urinals (what??), and possibly worst of all they don't provide you with hand wash they have shared bars of soaps which is absolutely bizarre for a shared toilet!!
To be fair, the staff were quite friendly and willing, but if you want to try out a capsule hotel I absolutely urge you to avoid this place at all costs! For £10 more you can get a proper hotel with a room to yourself at the Toyoko Inn or something.

Room tip: Choose a different hotel!

I've stayed in many capsule hotels throughout Japan and this is the worst. Period. Stay at the Kuyakushomae capsule hotel just a few blocks over instead.

Reasons why this capsule isn't worth staying at: lockers are part of the lobby, the bathroom is terrible, the place smells, it's in the middle of the sex district, the pillows are 100% beads, there is sometimes no power plugs in the capsules, the place is old old old.

Reasons why you would stay at this capsule hotel: you are part of a motorcycle gang or organized crime syndicate (full body tatoos seem permitted), you like a checkout time of noon.
