I could not have been happier with my recent stay at Hotel Barolo. The room was enormous and comfortable, with a little sitting area and a reasonably-sized bathroom. The air conditioning worked great, which was important in this 95°F weather. There was ample parking. The staff were so incredibly kind and helpful, from great table service at the attached restaurant to keeping the included breakfast buffet open late so we could still eat when we had gotten up a bit too late.

The biggest selling points other than the above are the absolutely incredible views (there is a castle on a nearby hill, and you are surrounded by vineyards), the beautiful pool, and the selection of amazing wines. You can enjoy the latter at the attached restaurant, which serves delicious local food on a lovely terrace overlooking the castle and vineyards.

I hope to return to Barolo someday soon, and if I do, I will stay here.

By and large a pretty nice spot, beautifully located to enjoy the villages of the Langhe. More than adequate breakfasts and dinner with pleasant, efficient staff. I must admit I had a problem with the TV they couldn't solve, but I only wanted to use the TV occasionally for news so,no big deal. Rooms were pleasant, clean, well cared for.

Room Tip: Wi-fi was sporadic...sometimes fine, sometimes difficult to engage....not a show stopper or spoiler though...we were assigned a lower level room in the newer portion with VERY limited view, but we spent very little time in the room as we traveled the Langhe each day for,the entire day, so It was of little consequence, but if you are going to spend time in your room try for an upper level....

Really enjoyed my time there, comfy room and very clean, scenic view and wine tasting on Saturdays! all in the hands of the Brezza family, makers of really fine wines. Attached a very good restaurant too!!

Overall rating. *** (out of max 5). Downgrade because there is no pool in the hotel as stated in the description. Please be aware that in the whole Baraolo region the prices are high and you get less for the money than in other regions.
Location **** (out of max five). In the middle of the Barolo wineyards.
Room. ***** (out of max five). Very nice room with air condition in the new building. Very nice view over the wineyards.
Infrastructure, Service (internet, reception, pool etc): * (out of max five). While the hotel description shows a pool, this is a public pool and does not belong to the hotel. You have to pay entrance and eventually the reception will refund the entrance. For the swimming pool, a swim cap is necessary. These disadvantages lead to downgrade.
Breakfast. **** (out of five). Handmade cappuccino and espresso, fresh fruits.

Room Tip: Room in the new building

There are some pluses but also some minuses of this old, family-run country hotel. On the plus side: location, friendly service, reasonably clean rooms with traditional and functional furniture. On the minus side: very slow Internet connection, a breakfast buffet that needs upgrading and can run out of some essential items (bread, fruit, eggs), sparse bath room amenities (no facial tissue), staff with poor comprehension of English. The place is a popular destination of bus tours.
