“Recommended place to stay.”
Reviewed 23 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

Nice place to stay.
Borys the owner, was very helpful and welcoming. Rooms are clean. Location is good, 2min away from Mirissa beach by tuktuk. Breakfast was nice and very generous. Would definitely recommend the place.

“Quiet place, clean, very helpful caretaker”

My friend and I stayed here two nights in a non AC room on the upper floor. The room, bed, bath towels, and toilet/shower was clean. There is a ceiling fan, a cupboard with a safe, no mosquito nets but this was not an issue for us as there were no mosquitoes in our room even though we opened both doors to let the breeze in. We did have a problem with ants on the floor due to a dead bug right outside our door (and thus the ants were marching it off and had various ant scouts all about), but this was more or less resolved when the caretaker, Dima, sped off to buy insecticide immediately after we told him about the problem.

Other than the ants, we did enjoy the "sounds of nature" especially in the morning. There are wooden chairs outside our door, and wooden deck lounges on the roof, second floor terrace, and ground floor for lazing around. Breakfast was decent, with choice of boiled or fried egg or omelette, along with toast, watermelon and banana, yogurt, and coffee/tea.

The "hotel" itself is situated just outside of Mirissa, tens of metres from the "end of Mirissa" signboard on the main road, inside a narrow little lane with high red clay walls just wide enough for a car to navigate. Besides the Copacabana resort, most of the other residents are local, and we did not meet more than a few tourists around the hotel. There is no signpost on the main road except for a small white one high up with a little Buddhist swastika sign and some Sinhalese(?) letters. It's about a 15-minute walk from the nearest beach front cafe, and it's advisable to bring a flashlight at night. There is a path to a quiet little beach with a very rocky shore if you turn right from the hotel entrance and walk for a few minutes.

All in, the hotel is a nice quiet retreat after a day at the main beach with the beachfront cafes and many other tourists walking around.

We spent two nights there recently. Place is quiet and lovely. Rooms are cosy, clean and comfortable. Beautiful beaches just near by. Our host Dima was lovely, very attentive, kind and helpful. I recommend it to everyone.

“We loved everything about Sounds of Nature Mini Hotel”

This was best place we stayed during our 3 week holiday and we hope to return one day soon. Dima our host was wonderful, he looked after us and was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is only about 6 months old . We loved waking up early to watch the monkeys, birds and squirrels in the tree outside our room. It lived up to its name "Sounds of Nature", we even spotted a Mongoose on one our little adventure walks quite close to the hotel. Sounds of Nature is located off the main road down a short lane so nice and quiet. It was surrounded by lush trees and from the rooftop deck you could see the ocean. The beach was an easy walk down dirt road from the hotel, or you could walk or catch tuk tuk into main area for restaurants etc We dined at beachfront cafes each night for Happy Hour cocktails, music and fresh seafood. We were told that this time of the year was not best for swimming as water was not calm but we still swam every day in the sheltered areas. Only negative would be that Sounds of garden can be hard to find for taxi drivers etc as no sign on main road. They are waiting for local government to give them approval to put up a sign. Suggest you Google for directions before you arrive in Mirissa. We highly recommend Sounds of Nature Mini Hotel :)

Liked best: Location, the accommodation and of course Dima our host,
Liked least: Perhaps provide a fridge outside kitchen , near tables so guests can put their own refreshments in to keep cold. An electric jug and tea cups could also be handy so you could buy some tea bags etc to make your own tea or coffee at any time .

“Great stay-lovely rooms”

Great B&B five in quiet location, 5 minutes away by tuk-tuk from Mirissa Beach. The B&B is quite new and offers spacious, well appointed and impeccably clean rooms. Boris was a great host, welcoming and helpful. Some rooms are air-conditioned and some have ceiling fans, we stayed in one of each and they were both very comfortable. Very good breakfast served in courtyard area. It is quite tucked away and not so easy to find so take an address card with you for the drivers.
