“Peaceful haven in the country”
Reviewed 2 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

As others have written, we were greeted by homemade scones, some kit kats, and some milk in the fridge for coffee along with fresh flowers. It was such a nice welcome to such an adorable cottage. As we have shared pictures from our trip we get many comments and questions about the cottage. It has everything you could possibly need, including a washer/dryer combo. There are basic needs available such as dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, some oils, spices, and coffee. We didn't have to buy anything for our 4 night stay except any food we wanted. So often in vacation rentals you end up spending a fortune on soaps or other basics only to have to leave much of it behind. There were also games, books, and tourism fliers to use. There is a small TV but we never used it as we were too busy exploring the area and then reviewing our fun day upon return to bother with TV. There is parking right at the cottage. I got quite good getting in and out by the end given I was driving on the opposite side I am used to and there are concrete walls! The cottage is quite separate from the main house, including bushes that make it hard to even see the main house. This, along with the very large yard right outside the cottage door, makes you feel very secluded and private, in a good way. John told us the foundation of the cottage was from 1860 and he gave us a little history about it.
The location of the cottage is absolutely perfect for exploring the area and anything you need. Ballymoney and Stranocum are very close. We ate in Ballymoney and stopped at the small grocery store with the gas station in Stranocum for some supplies. Bushmills, the Dark Hedges, Giant's Causeway, and more are so very close. We truly enjoyed just driving around the countryside and the coast on a daily basis. Even Derry/Londonderry is an easy drive if you are interested in more history and murals.
One of the things we loved about the cottage is that it allows for a quiet, restful vacation in gorgeous surroundings, an active exploring vacation taking in all the easy to reach sites, or a combination of both. It is entirely up to the renter because anything was possible.
My only suggestion would be to install some type of sturdy grab bar by the tub so that people with mobility or balance issues would feel more secure getting out of the rather high tub.
Otherwise if we ever get back to Northern Ireland I promise it will be to this cottage that we return. With 2 bedrooms, easily room for 4 adults, easy access for anyone with mobility issues, adorable setting and furnishings, perfect location, and kind welcoming hosts-how could you go wrong?

“Lovely people, lovely cottage and a great location”
Reviewed 6 December 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Helen had baked scones for our arrival and John went out of his way to be helpful and was genuinely concerned when I was unwell. The cottage had everything we needed, including washing machine/drier and dishwasher, and was small but surprisingly spacious inside. We were very warm and comfortable, (bed was good). It was great to park right at the door and not to have to lug suit cases upstairs for a change. The location is ideal for exploring the causeway coast and the glens of Antrim and we had a day trip into Londonderry which was an easy drive. Belfast would also be an easy day trip.. We came across from Cairnryan on the ferry, having driven from Edinburgh so we arrived late in the day but it was an easy drive across from Larne. Supermarkets in Ballymoney, just a short drive away. Very quiet location. Any negatives? Well the TV is small, but we didn't go to Ireland to watch TV.

Great place. Roomy and welcoming. Well kept and well provided.
There were scones awaiting our arrival and they were so yummy they didn't last long. Plenty of hot chocolate, tea, coffee, honey etc, so we felt well catered for.
Good location, too. Quiet and out of the way, but near enough to the towns to still be handy, with Portrush, Portstewart, Ballymoney and Ballintoy all within a short drive.
Car is necessary, however.

“luxury cottage”
Reviewed 23 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Beautiful cottage sits in huge lawn area. About 30 - 60 minutes to major sites so has good central location. Very well equipped. Plenty of room for a family.
Very pleasant greeting from owners with ample advice and good info on cottage and area.
