Impressive looking hotel that belies the chaos within! We had no water in our room - shifted to a room with a dribble of cold water...staff seemed to think this was normal and Ok. Breakfast service was slow - my advice is to book anywhere but here

650 Birr for a twin room. When got to it found there was almost no light (fortunately equipped with headtorches) but also absolutely no water or flush, the ridiculous porter (evening dress and orange shirt) responds 'is problem?' and had to be frogmarched to desk and staff had to be embarrassed into providing another room. Slimy sheets, cockroaches, power failure, deafening generator, followed by power failure. Fawlty Towers has nothing on this overpriced dump

Room tip: Go somewhere else there are plenty of alternatives

Very Well located next to ETT office which during the low season is the only tour company which ofred tours in the danakil desert.
The hotel is really big, 4 stories high, and nicely decorated yed needs renovation
Has hot water in a boiler tank, Wifi in the rooms, Price included breakfast, though since we had one bed, queen size, we only got one breakfast. Breakfast is plain and the hotel restaurant is mediocre.
For the price it was ok. (15$), there is no backup generator for power outs.

Lots of stuff doesn't work or needs special treatment. Very old needs major renovation. It's a pity because the building is Italian-constructed with the grandeur of the past, arches, statues, high ceilings etc.

The rooms are disgusting. The carpet had enormous dirty spots. The shower overflows immediatly. The toilet doesn't flush. The church right behind the hotel starts te singing at 3.30 in the morning till 8. It's really loud because it's so close. The staff is really slow. Takes an hour to make breakfast, 45 min to make tea. Terrible place, avoid it.
