Stayed in this hotel many times due to business. The rooms are okay, but showers often lack hot water. The decor in the lobby is pretty nice and the staff are friendly and helpful.

It's an okay place to stay I guess for the price. I've gotten bedbug bites a couple of times too, but the main thing is the inconsistency of the hot water and flushable toilets - the place is also subject to powercuts, but I guess that's not the fault of the hotel. WiFi never seems to work also.

Just make sure you ask to inspect the bathroom for working shower and toilet.

Don't be deceived by the nice looking hall, this hotel is an unpleasant, dirty place to stay in. Rooms are in very poor conditions (it took us a while before finding one with working water and a toilet that was not broken), the moquette has seen better days and bedsheets were dirty and smelly. Did I mention the cockroaches we found on the floor, the bed and our bags when we came back at night? We spent about a week in Mekele and for 20$ a night there are certainly better places to stay in....do yourself a favour and go to one of them.

Plus: Its pretty central and close to ETT offices, the rooms were moderatly clean.
Tip: Get the "single" room (which has a double bed) instead of a twin - save a third of your money. HOWEVER if you are two females or two males - you can't sleep in a double bed, you have to get a twin. But they do allow a male and female, who are just friends, to stay together - weird.
Minus: the bathrooms were typically bad, although the shower did work in my room. The toilet had half a seat, when I showed the manager to fix, he said of course, but never did. Watch out for mosquitoes, the hotel doesn't have nets.
The orthodox church nearby blasts prayers in the early morning.. Plus one night it went on all night due to Christmas being in a few days, couldn't sleep AT ALL. Terrible.
The most legendary experience however was breakfast. They only offer an omelet. The restaurant is always totally empty. Yet for some reason you ALWAYS wait about an hour if you are more than one person, plus they always get it wrong (we were five, which equals 5x breakfast, yet they always got it wrong - unbelievable). The enormous staff just sit and stair at you and do nothing. If you are in a hurry for a tour, then seriously skip breakfast, its not even worth it, and go to the Yordanos hotel for a better feast.

If you think this is a real four star hotel, you will be dissapointed. If you think, that this hotel a bit better, than any backpacker one, you are wrong. They never pick up the telephones and most of the staff spaks only a local language. The lobby and the bar looks like an old, traditional hotel. The rooms are rarely used so there will be lot s of suprise when you start to use it. You will recognise, that any water comes from the shower will appear in the room (yes in the bedroom not in the bathroom). So you will have plenty of water on the floor but none in the tap or in the toilet. We had a lovely but unfortunatelly deserted bird nest in the bathroom.
So have fun or look for other accomodation!
