“A wonderful place to stay”
Reviewed 20 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Hard to fault - the house is spotlessly clean, very well equipped indeed, spacious inside and out and with a pool that is surprisingly large and wonderful to swim and relax in. A great setting for exploring beautiful countryside, the Canal de Midi and the Languedoc/Aude coast... We had a wonderful week.

“Well-equipped, clean and comfortable villa in a quiet area of the village”
Reviewed 7 August 2015 for a stay in September 2014

Our stay in La Maison Clairette was very enjoyable. Situated on the outskirts of the village of Roubia overlooking a vineyard on one side, it was fairly quiet.

I can’t think of anything we needed that wasn’t there. It was well equipped, comfortable and clean.

WiFi would have been nice, but we knew there wasn’t any when we booked and the mobile phone coverage wasn’t too bad. So we could keep up to date with the outside world if we wanted to.

There is no television either (other than for watching DVDs of which there are many to choose from), but again, we knew that when we booked and actually it made a nice change not to sit in front of the TV. There are also plenty of books and some children’s’ games.

A more robust shading of the outside table would be nice as, even in September, the sun was very hot. We had beautiful weather and the pool was used daily.

There are two restaurant/bars in the village, both within easy walking distance. We tended to use Lou Mercat, next to the Canal, mostly. The owners were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was good, there was plenty of it and reasonably priced. Lou Mercat is also the place for bread in the mornings and also sells groceries.

We also had a few meals at La Forchette Folle. It is nearer to the villa and is also very nice and the staff are also friendly.

Communication with the owners was very good and our security deposit was refund quickly without our needing to request it.

Would definitely recommend La Maison Clairette and Roubia and have booked again, for 2015.

“Last visitor last year and first this year!”
Reviewed 28 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We were very happy to return to La Maison Clairette just 9 months after our previous visit. The property is very spacious and comfortable with all facilities to meet our needs. The pool was enjoyed most days. We are keen walkers and the location of Roubia provided us with several quite long walks into the nearby hills and along the Canal du Midi. Just an hour or so away are the mountains of Haut Languedoc which provided even more energetic trails. This is an excellent property for further excursions north, south, east and west. For the two weeks the weather was generally fine and warm to hot, with just one wet day. Some days were quite windy.

“A great holiday in a lovely area.”
Reviewed 9 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We had an excellent fortnight based in this lovely holiday home. The house is very well appointed and fully met all our needs. It is very spacious inside and well set up for outdoor living. The pool was welcome on hot days, if a little chilly in September. Roubia is a really good location with great local walking along the Canal du Midi and in the surrounding hills. The village bar/store provided a good selection of bread and croissants, not to mention the takeaway pizzas!

“Lovely Villa in beautiful area near canal du midi”
Reviewed 2 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a fantastic stay at La Maison Clarette, it is a lovely house with a beautiful pool which we couldn't fault. The house is situated towards the end of the village with views towards the vineyards which was lovely to look at each morning as you opened the bedroom shutters.
The house is impeccable a real home from home with all the mod cons required, except one thing, WIFI, it wasn't the end of the world but it would have been great to find out what was going on in the area and particularly the weather as we had a few inclement days.

The pool area is lovely and quite secluded, could do with a few more trees down the side to make it a little more secluded than it currently is but we all enjoyed sitting outside and kids loved it and we couldn't get them out most days.

The villa is also in a great location with beaches about 45mins away, Carcassonne 30mins, Narbonne 20mins and the Canal du Midi on your doorstep.

The village of Roubia is quiet and sleepy with a couple if little bars and restaurants, one of which, Lou Mercat, sells basic provisions of bread, milk etc which was great to pop down to. The Canal du Midi is right on your doorstep and great for cycling around checking out all of the beautiful local villages.

All in all we had a lovely stay, with the only negative being the lack of WIFI, but would still recommend to others.
