I visited this restaurant during my trip to Taipei and have found that the herbal steamboat is great. The herbs are very healthy but may not be a liking for some. Be sure to make reservation prior as it tend to fill very quickly and cannot cater walk-ins. You clothes may have strong herbal smell after the meal, a sweet soup is served as dessert after a meal, overall a great experience.

I tried about ten famous HotPot in Taipei and tiansan is still my favorite. I like it because it has lots of various vegetables that are not available in HK. The soup based is fantastic, not just spicy but a herbal spice that gives you the chilly hot taste. It's also easy to find a seat rather than you have to line up a long time. The only improvement is the service as it is good service but not really warm .

It was my first time to try Mongolian hot-pot. The taste full of cumin and garlic was whole new to me. I liked it very much. However, the price was not so friendly.

It's different from most hot pot restaurants which explains the higher price for it. Unlike most hot pot places, food is cooked in one big shared pot. It's better to go with some friends, so you get to order and try more dishes. A great restaurant especially during the winter months.

Tiansian is a large and somewhat fancy but slightly past-prime hot-pot restaurant on the second floor of a building on a busy commerical street. You pay for the soup---you can choose normal, spicy, or half and half---and then order the different things you want to put in à la carte. We ordered seam bream, blue shrimp, crab balls, broccoli. The seafood was all very fresh, but I discovered that I don't know how to make a very good hot pot. Things were further complicated a little by a series of minor misfortunes. One item didn't arrive from the kitchen and that seemed to be a bigger deal for the wait staff than it should have been. Then the gas bottle under the table ran out during dinner and had to be changed. The service was a little gruff. But the soup was very good. We ordered the combination. Both sides are crammed with garlic and all kinds of roots and herbs. The spicy broth is also crammed with chili peppers and is like sipping liquid fire, especially since all the hotness gets extracted into the floating oil. It's pretty good, but be warned! One final note: dinner here costs a little more than I expected it too before looking at the menu.
