“Delicious urn-baked chicken”

Inako Senic View Cafe
Cuisines: Taiwanese
Restaurant details
Reviewed 26 March 2019

The urn-baked chicken was juicy and delicious. The skin was crispy. The chicken was very hot and yet the meat remained tender. Customers were provided gloves to tear up the chicken. This was quite a different experience from the traditional Chinese and Western restaurants where the meat was already cut into pieces.

Other than the chicken, the vegetables were fresh and the tofu was tasty. The cafe had a very nice view of the mountain. The cafe also had live fish, but we were full and did not try it.

Our friend, a local resident in Taichung promised us the best smoked chicken, made in huge traditional urns, in a beautiful mountain setting of the Qing jing mountains.

The road is very windy to get to the top, and it was raining, so we didn't see anything related to the mountain views, lol.

Inako is a traditional wooden building. The giant ceramic smokers are by the entrance.

Their speciality is the urn baked chicken served whole, and you are given gloves to pull it apart. Additionally, we ordered soup and stir fry vegetables. dishes are delicious too. They are generous with vegetables & soup.

Service is perfunctory, almost unfriendly. The food was good!

Pple recommended this place for it's chicken, maybe because I ate a better one before this, so this is considered not very good. Whole chicken came on its own, you have to pull apart the chicken yourself. Quite barbaric to me. Skin is not crispy, a little too salty, clam soup is bland, veggie is ok nothing fantastic.

Went twice for early bird dinner during weekend
Chicken (whole chicken) and stir fried vegetables were good
Since the chicken was good, we went for the 2nd night
Disappointed in the following :
Clam soup tasted like water
Trout fish tasted so so
Again trout fish soup tasted like water
Attitude of the parking lot staff was unacceptable- rude and yelled to us - insisted us to keep our keys of our rented motorcycle in the motorcycle (who would do it in a foreign small town!)

Given the limited choices of cuisine in the area, will still recommend the restaurant.

A great alternative to the more popular urn chicken restaurant at CingJing. Food is reasonably priced and also popular with the locals.
