Friendly staffs and decent hotel

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 10 Sept 2017
Staffs are friendly and overall the hotel is pretty new and the room is in pristine condition.

Room are spacious and equipped with basic toiletries amenities. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. The hotel also provide free bicycle for their guests.

The hotel serves typical Taiwanese breakfast buffet – porridge, noodles with the assortment of side dishes and condiments and the restaurant even has a pretty decent coffee machine.

Overall, it is a pleasant stay for us.
Date of stay: August 2017
Room Tip: Higher floor rooms have better view of the sea

Fairly new hotel situated at a quiet area near the Hualien Port. The room and washroom are fairly big, clean and tidy; and completed with all the basic and necessary amenities. My wife and I like the shower in the bathroom very much; very fine and powerful jets of water, and hot water in abundant supply.

Our room overlook the beautiful Hualien Port, and we have a good rest that night as the area was really quite with very light traffic at night.

The staff was friendly and helpful especially the Mr. Lim who carried out friendly chats in English with us and other guests in the restaurant during the breakfast time. The breakfast spread was like most of the other Taiwan hotels of the same class; however, the espresso from coffee machine was wonderful.

The hotel is only about 10 minutes walk from a red lookout bridge that spanned over railway tracks near the Hualien Port. Above the bridge you can have a good view of the beautiful port and the far way mountain ranges. My wife and I walked over there for a quick tour before the 7 am breakfast time.

Hualien Lohas Hotel is a hotel I will consider to stay if I ever come back to Hualien again.

Room tip: Higher floor and facing the sea, quiet and has good view of the port, plus Pacific Ocean sunrise in the morning.

Walked into the restaurant without reservation but managed to get a table. The girls were amazing. Spoke English n service was wonderful. Veg food didn't taste better anywhere than here. Left the place with stomach...err heart's content. Must visit.

we stayed a night here in a triple room. fairly good size for 3 adults, very basic interior but clean. wifi was sketchy in our room initially and was only strong in the corridors, however the staff rebooted the router and it seemed to be slightly better in the room afterwards. Parking was available for free on the street.

breakfast was limited but offered the basic western spread (toast, bacon, eggs) and eastern (congee) plus juices, tea/coffee.

location is close by car to the local beach nearby (5mins) and the taroko gorge (30mins). The hualien city area is also close by (10mins by car) where you will find afew main streets lit up by lights and lined with shops in the evening. The night market is quite lively, worth a visit to snack on the latest street food trend.

This hotel only opened really recently... in fact, you get to smell the new furniture / room scent...

Breakfast is served from 0700hrs to 0930hrs at Level 2 with quite good spread and availability of a coffee machine which serves Expresso!

Room tip: Request for rooms ending with 6 (eg 506) for direct seaview on top floor or rooms ending with 1 (eg 501) for immediate access to the lift.

Pros:
1) New hotel (but my friend mentioned that the toilet in her room had toilet smell).
2) Big reception area and big rooms
3) Good services. i) reception allows us to amend our booking when checking in. e.g. change a five-pax room to two rooms (a two-pax room and three-pax room). ii) Lady at the breakfast area came to ask if breakfast was satisfactory and served additional toast, eggs and bacons.
4) Free use of bicycle from 7 am to 9 am.

Cons
1) Stuffy corridors
2) One main switch for the light
3) Have to surrender keys back to the hotel reception whenever you go out
4) Sea view for rooms X01-X05 not fantastic. (none of us were allocated rooms ending with X06 which face east and most probably have good sunrise/sea views)

I booked this hotel because the accommodation recommended by the driver and the accommodation nearby ZiQiang Night Market did not have sufficient rooms for all 15 of us. I would most probably book some where near the night market and main shopping streets for my next Hualien trip.

Room tip: Units ending with 01 are nearest to the lift Units ending with 06 faces east and have sea views.
