Location
+: Easy to locate. It is right around the block from the main train station, quietly tucked away in the less frantic part of town. I'm glad we chose to stay here and taxi to the main area, because of its proximity to the train station. It just makes it a less stressful experience when arriving and leaving.
-: Away from all the action along zhong shan road and the dongdamen night market. It's about 3km away, or a US$5 taxi ride to that area. You can walk, but it's not a very pleasant walk because the sidewalks are obstructed by motorbikes and small shops took us half an hour. I wouldn't cycle either if you're not familiar with the roads because vehicles come from everywhere.
Room
+: New, spacious, clean, cosy. The toilets had a modern semi-open design, and had fittings from Grohe and Villeroy & Boch. The layout of the room was very carefully thought out with a minimalist touch.
-: the bedsheets smelt bad, like it had not been sunned. We did not have a nice view, our room (and all the rooms on our side of the building) was right across from another building, so we kept the curtains closed the whole time.
Amenities
+: coin laundry, rock climbing wall for kids, reading room for kids, games room wth a treadmill and bicycle machine. Free coffee, tea and water refill at the lobby. Breakfast spread exceeded expectations - salad bar, Taiwanese rice porridge, lots of vegetables, Mochi. Refer to pix.
-: it's a small hotel which was refitted from an old building, so it's not as good as it can be. But for what they had to work with, they've done a pretty good job making the hotel feel modern and clean from an old dated building.
Overall
Staff were very friendly and provided excellent service.
Compared to the hotels in the main part of town, this seemed to be more modern & clean.
They did well with the nature and aboriginal tribal themed decor.
I would recommend this to my friends.
