Wonderful

What an amazing stay. The mountains are so peaceful-and the stream/river in the property is a tiny paradise.

Brian and his family took such good care of me - arriving as I did during the double typhoon, holiday weekend. From the time I arrived they offered the perfect mix of making me feel welcome and giving me my space to relax and regenerate. Every meal they had great Taiwanese food, home grown and home cooked - with so many courses! And when we had to evacuate for the second typhoon, they made sure I was safely at my destination.

There was tea and coffee available all day for the making. The only thing I was missing was having some snacks or maybe a beer. I should have brought these small items with me-as I did not chose to bring a car and have local transport.

Highly recommend this place!

Stayed one night at Fuyam located in LaLa mountains, arranged by the owner of iSky Villa at Miao Li. A very different homestay, more like a small peaceful mountain resort.
It's a little out of the way but the long drive was well worth it.

Managed only one night as the planned first was booked out.
Fuyam is in the trough of 2 hills with a mountain stream running below the property. We had fun exploring the place even though the day was a little wet.
Room was huge but cosy. Guests can help themselves to coffee and tea at the guest house and use the study/library which are separate from the room blocks. Wifi signal was good. In a place like this, it's better to just reach out and enjoy the mountain air. Dinner was an excellent Hakka spread cooked by Mother Chung. She's a great cook.

Brian's our driver and guide. He's a second generation homestay operator helping his parents. Unassuming and genuine, we had a very engaging drive back to Taipei with other sights enroute.

I was told that one could hike across the range to Yilan in under half a day.

Wish we had a few more days there, for the peace and quite.

This charming villa enjoys a tranquil location perfect for a relaxing holiday. Although it was a long meandering drive to get to the deep valley where Fuyam is located, we were greeted by the picturesque landscape upon arrival, which was a perfect retreat, like a sanctuary. The room was spotlessly clean and lovely and we all had a good night sleep on their comfortable beds. With the warm hospitality from the owners, the Chung family, coupled with their delectable homecooked breakfast and dinner spread (the best meals we had in our entire trip), our stay here was a truly home away from home experience. Our guide, Mr Peng, was also very knowledgeable and approachable. He is always keen to share with us his knowledge of the Lalashan region. Kudos to him on his driving skills! For those who appreciate an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Fuyam tourist home truly hits the spot :) Communication with the owner, Brian, was a breeze from the beginning till the end, being able to communicate via email in both Mandarin and English with prompt responses. The Chung family are really kind, helpful and accommodating people. All in all, we truly enjoyed our stay here and would love to revisit this gem again someday in future. Definitely recommended for travellers of all ages! For those travelling with elderly, do request for a ground level room, just a few steps up to walk. Do take up the 3D2N package to truly enjoy the beauty of this place. Our 3D2N experience has unfolded fresh wonders for the eyes, new thrills for the senses and new sensations for the heart :)

The location of Fuyam is perfect being in the middle of the mother nature in Lala Mountain. It is surrounded by Sakura trees and there is also a stream/river at the back which is accessible to guests. However, it is recommended to arrange transfer with the owner of the minsu as it is far from the bus-stop at Shang Ba Ling. Staying in Fuyam allows you to be away from the hectic city life and into a relaxing environment with trees, river and mountain.

The rooms are big, clean and comes with a huge comfortable bed. The room that I stayed in also comes with a huge bathtub. Apart from that, they also provide a public area which allows you to make your own coffee/tea that are provided for guests to savor and another area allowing us to play some board games and relax. There is also a path way leading to the river behind.

The owners (Zhong Father and Mum) are very friendly and will try their best to attend to all our needs. We also had our dinner at the dining room with many dishes served. Our guide, Mr Peng, is very knowledgeable and very friendly. He will bring us around to many nice places and introduce us to the local food. Lastly, appreciate Brian, the son of the owners, for his prompt assistance and arrangement when we are unable to rent a car to drive to the Lala Mountain due to lack of international driving permit.

Highly recommended and beautiful place to stay and enjoy the Mother nature of Lala Mountain.

My Wife and I were looking to get away for a few days before enjoying a new years celebration at Taipei 101 and we found the Fuyam Tourist Home via google. We were so happy with our decision to stay at the home and highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away. The only thing that we would recommend is that you spend a minimum of a couple of days to enjoy the beauty of the Mountain. The grounds are maintained by a family who prepare fresh food each morning and evening. The mom is a fantastic cook and my wife and I enjoyed every meal because of the fresh ingredients and variety of flavors. Brian who manages the property in co-operation with his parents was very kind to us and as part of a package he picked us up in Taipei and took us around to a few different local sights and food. He was extremely kind, fair, generous and because of this we also invited him to come stay with us in the US should he ever have the opportunity to travel.

If you decide to go on this trip, be prepared for a long drive into the mountains, however if you take on this adventure you will be rewarded with breathtaking views and experience Taiwan in a very unique special way. This is a must for anyone who enjoys hiking, nature and getting away from the city.

We could not have asked for more, and are very thankful to Brian and his family for being providing us a memory we will always cherish.

Room tip: If you can only speak English, ask for Brian to help you choose a good room. All of them have a beautiful view of the mountain and valley.

All the super-positive reviews here are true. This is a wonderful place to be if you're looking for peace & quiet, fresh cool mountain air, and a getaway from city life.

i was there for a whole week -- i had a writing project i needed to finish and went to Fu Yam hoping to find the time and space to get it done. Turns out that Fu Yam is the perfect writer's retreat. i got my work done, and came back from my stay feeling rested and rejuvenated, and ready to start work on the next writing project. i'd totally go back again.

The landscape of Lalashan is beautiful, and the rooms and facilities at Fu Yam are just the right combination of charm and comfort. But above all, it's the people who make this place so special. In particular, i will remember .....

      1. The wonderfully thoughtful hospitality -- from the very first enquiry email i sent, Brian was really helpful with providing information and making recommendations. i was given a lovely quiet room overlooking the stream -- with the very poetic name of 松语 (ie, 'pine whispers', or 'the language of pine trees'). Brian even took the trouble to obtain a table-lamp for me in case the lights in the room were inadequate for working at night. (The room lights were perfectly adequate, btw.) They also made the effort to customise the standard package tour for me -- when they found out that i like hiking / taking long walks, they arranged to bring me on a long walk around the entire valley. It was lovely -- such wonderful views!

The entire family is so warm and friendly -- and it's all so genuine. i felt very well taken care of during my time there -- the Zhongs really know how to pamper their guests. They were so attentive to the smallest details, yet also knew how to give me time and space when i wanted it. i had some good conversations with them, and learnt a lot about Taiwan and minsu life over the course of the week.

      2. The food. Omg. Such exquisite homecooked meals, and the ingredients are so fresh -- the Zhong family grows their own vegetables, and some days you get to eat veggies from the garden on the very same day they were harvested. Even more impressively, none of the dishes on the menu were repeated over the entire 7 days i was there. Zhong Ma is a wonderfully creative cook, and puts so much thought into her cooking. Guests are in for a real treat.

A lovely home away from home. i'd go back in a heartbeat.
