We have come 4 and got 2 double rooms. When we arrived, around noon, we could not check in, but the hotel let us leave the baggages. After we came back from Alishan walkway, they put our baggages in our room already (thanks for this point very much, because there is no escalator here, and our baggages are very big and heavy LOL).

After reading all review, we thought that this hotel would be very old, maybe not that good enough. But the hotel is clean and the bathroom is clean also. The bed can be warm by electrical (I know this at 9am of the checkout date LOL). The view is good. The weather is quite cold, especially for the nighttime.

The location is very good. 5 min from the bus stop and alishan station, just beside da fong hotel.

Breakfast is included. They gave coupon for us to have breakfast at the restaurant near visiting center.

There is morning call service also. The staffs are nice and very helpful.

Even the price is quite high when comparing to the other hotel we stayed in Taiwan, we still recommend this hotel. It is worth staying.

Room is simple and clean. Room without air-conditioning but it is also OK...coz the weather is cold when we got there. Location is good as it is near the Alishan Station which just takes 10 mins by walk.

All hotels are located in this little short strip behind the Visitors Centre. There is parking available. There is a short cut of quite steep stairs in the middle of the strip. Wankou Hotel is located at the dead end.
The hotel has very thin walls. Try and get the upper floors. However, there is no lift so if you have heavy luggage, it'll be hard work. There's also no kettle our room but you can get hot or cold water down at the reception area where there is also a big TV. You are provided a vacuum flask.
A great advantage is that they can purchase your sunrise train ticket for you when the office opens for sale at 4pm. Therefore you do not have to return from your hike or rather walk in the forest.
I wouldn't go to their recommended dinner restaurant. It was not heated and costs as much as the nicer restaurants. Food wasn't good either. At lunch we went to the first restaurant from the right as you face the shops. Simple and cheap. There's a nicer one next and above 7-11.
If you're for a budget hotel, Wankou is quite a good option.

the only cons for this place is the breakfast lounge located far and you need to climb pretty steep stairs.

this hotel in the otherhand is superb. it give nice mountain view, English speaking front desk, and bed with hot blanket (usable when you travel in winter)

We stayed at this comfortably located property for two nights, and were very satisfied with our stay. Although initially surprised with no heater in the room, but just an electrically heated bed and warm comforter. So the room was just to shower and watch tv on your bed, other time you are out in the mountains. It is located five minutes walking distance from the main bus-stop and main alishan market area. Most of the hotels are bunched together on one street. Breakfast was included ( in a restaurant), and the room had the basic necessity. We were very happy with our stay and would recommend to others.

Room Tip: Higher floor will have a better view
