“Excellent Meal, Beautiful setting”

Mosu Lodge Restaurant

We had one dinner & one breakfast in the restaurant at Mosu Lodge. When booking for the Dinner at the camp reception, we were given a menu so that we could pre-order our meal which was really fantastic as we did not need to wait for it once we arrived for the dinner!

The service was terrific from friendly & helpful waitresses. We ordered a 3 course meal each & we had amazing, very tasty, meals of generous portions at a very reasonable cost.

The setting overlooking the park is wonderful & we had many animals walk past en route to & from the nearby waterhole. There was also a big family of warthogs & a small herd of Tssessebe feeding on the lawn inside the fence / camp!

Well worth a visit!

Food is fresh, well prepared and served by very helpful and kind staff. The view is very beautiful, and the ambience great. If you are at Mokala, I would recommend that you eat here

We had dinner here while staying at the park and tried the venison pie / lamb shank. The food was well prepared, tasty and overall a lovely experience as well as reasonably priced.

The venison pie came with 2 vegetables as well as potato wedges. You can also order some drinks with your meal.

All on all a very pleasant experience and worth supporting.

Stopped in at Mosu restaurant while in Mokala National Park. The waiter recommended the Mosu Burger, it took forever to produce only thtee people in the restaurant. It was dry overcooked and full of gristle, my partner had the chicken salad which too was not great, the chicken was old and dry. Dissapointed in the offering, it has so much potential.

The Mosu Restaurant is a magnificent restaurant in very attractive surroundings but has so little support that the food suffers accordingly.

We had the impression that the food is prepared or partially prepared in bulk and then reheated when the odd patron arrives and orders something. For lunch, my wife's venison bobotie was bland and tasteless and my venison pie had lots of meat but not much flavour. That evening our lamb shank was slightly better but the fact that it was completely blackened and dry with a bit of sauce thrown over the top led one to believe that it was pre-prepared and simply re-heated - thereby destroying most of the flavour.

We were the only people in the restaurant in the one instance and the other time there was only one other man eating. This lack of support is undoubtedly a direct consequence of the park's management not maintaining the roads at all over the last 10 years. What started ourt as a park for citizens with cars, plus a few special 4x4 routes, is rapidly degenerating into a park mainly for 4x4 drivers who tend to go for self-catering. For example, we were driving our sedan vehicle back from the other side of the park when we were caught in a thunderstorm and by the time we came close to the Mosu camp on the so-called tarred road, my car was sliding through the massive mud holes with no traction whatsoever! So cars is the one species quickly disappearing from the Park.

With the clientele profile changing so dramatically, it is not surprising that the Lilydale restaurant has closed completely and the Mosu restuarant wants people to book for dinner so they know whether to send the staff home early or not. Also why produce fresh food with so few customers?

So the people to blame for the problematic food is not so much the restaurant management but the SANP park management who don't do their job properly in maintaining the park's roads as they should, thus denying the park to drivers of ordinary cars who do like to eat in restaurants.
