Interesting. I cycle a lot. On my mountain bike I often cross the A1198 on the near by bridleway or ride down the road on my road bike and I've watched the pub being rebuilt over the past couple of years, they've made a lovely job.
This was our first visit since it reopened. The place has been transformed. We were greeted by the staff and shown to our table. The service was prompt and the food was really tasty and well cooked.
It was good value too. We each had 3 courses and a drink and the bill was £65.
It's the little things though. The toast with my baked camembert was made from nice bread and the tap water is served ice cold in a stoppered bottle.

We'll be back.

This was my first time visiting Sunday for easter holiday lunch with friends, the establishment has lovely decor we ate in the restaurant but i did look around and theres a nice cosy area at the other end with a fire lit, i do like the people watch and every seemed to be enjoying themselves. I would like to make comments about our waitress who looked after us well from start to finish as most reviews just comment about the food and establishment but i personally think the staff make the difference also, i didn’t catch her name but she was the only waitress with curly hair, she greeted us at the door very smiley and took our reservation details and gave us the option of drinks at the bar area before seating which i like as i’m not keen on being rushed to our table as i like to browse, we were served by 2 men behind the bar assuming they were in charge, well presented and polite, when we were ready our waitress took us to our table, after taking our order she asked us if we would like water with our meal which was a nice touch, she knew how to address and look after a table reservation and very helpful, without being intrusive, and made our visit more pleasurable, the other 2 younger waitresses were lovely also. I had the mushroom soup of the day followed by a lovely roast beef dinner which could’ve done with more gravy with the Yorkshire pudding being so grand but thats my only comment, the meat was cooked perfectly, and all the food come out of the kitchen quite quickly and well presented, i couldn’t fit a pudding in but they looked lovely from afar especially the eton mess, i will have to come back and try.
It seems you will need to book in advance as its very popular!

Thank you very much for an enjoyable afternoon and we wish you every success for the future, we will of course be back again in the near future......

Dear nikkiforetti,

Thank you so much for coming to visit us over Easter. I am so glad you liked our restaurant, you are welcome to choose between the restaurant or lounge areas when you make your booking so let us know which area your prefer.

I believe it was Lauren who greeted you and waited your table. I have shown her your review and she was so pleased that she had such an positive impact on your visit to us.

Its great to hear that you enjoyed your mushroom soup and roast beef diner. Our gravy is very popular as it is packed full of flavour, if you would like more on your next visit then please do let us know. Also maybe you could share an Eton mess on your next visit as it is definitely worth a try!!

Thank you for taking time to leave such a lovely review, we really hope to see you again soon.

Really nice ambience and very friendly staff. The menu is well chosen and beautifully cooked. Everything is perfect.

It would be wise to book. We were there on a Tuesday evening and there were only 3 tables available at 7pm!
