Set in the most wonderful countryside, with amazing hikes starting at the end of the garden, this charming and comfortable converted farm building (complete with old bread oven in the kitchen) is the perfect base for exploring the Luberon. The owner responded immediately to our little questions and his sweet dogs and cat also kindly checked in on us every now and then! It is hard to imagine a more beautiful setting in totally private green oak orchards with wild flowers all around.
We are just finishing our week at the delightful Mas Cote Sud. This little place manages the nearly impossible, by being conveniently located near to markets, attractions and amenities, while giving the impression of being miles from anywhere and surrounded by beautiful and unspoiled countryside. The property, which is accessed via a sloping path, is adjoining the owner's house but not overlooked by it. The owners Bernard and Matilde were friendly and welcoming. These excellent hosts made sure that we had all the help and support that we needed before leaving us in privacy for our stay. The owner's extremely well behaved and loveable dogs were an added bonus. The younger one kept us company on several of the walks that we had direct from our front door around the surrounding valley.
The property itself has been converted from what looked to be the kitchens of the old farm house, with unplastered stone walls, tiled floors and many original features. As there were only two of us, we slept in the downstairs bedroom with vast and attractive en suite bathroom. We did not use the upstairs rooms, which were accessed via a slightly worn outdoor stone staircase. The rooms were all clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped, with all the pottery plates that could be wished for. Arguably the best feature of this house is the terrace overlooking the valley. It was ideal for long leisurely meals of local produce, wine and cheese.
This is a great place to spend a relaxing holiday. In fact, I'm not really sure I want to write this review, as it will make it harder to book when we come back in the future.
