My wife and I have visited Delphi Lodge every year since !997. While we are primarily there for the salmon fishing on the lovely Bundorragha River or on the Finlough or Doolough, the Lodge and the area is so spectacular that I have often said I would go there from Connecticut just for a cocktail. Over the years, we have found the food and service to be outstanding. The staff has always ben friendly, courteous, and well trained. The rooms at the Lodge are very comfortable and afford spectaular views of the Finlough and the Mweelrea Mountains. The wine cellar is first rate. Conversation at the large communal dinner table is relaxed and most enjoyable. Indded, Delphi Lodge, whether one fishes or not, may be Ireland's " best country house visit ". Jane and Peter Mantle are pros. They know how to run a country house and do so with good humor, seeming ease, and utmost professionalism. Guests fro all over the world have enjoyed their hospitality. Just check the comments in their guest book. We can't wait for next June.

Really disappointing. They charge 4 star prices and it is definitely not 4 star quality. The rooms are basic, but comfortable. The dinner was very nice, but was really put off that the host was served frist at dinner. Its just good manners that the host be served last. The breakfast was a big let down. The orange juice seemed watered down, the coffee not good and the museli cheap, though the cooked breakfast was nice.

On the plus, excellent location, and I like the way the you can just sit in the sitting room and help yourself with the drinks (though some dishonest people I noticed did not note down their drinks!)

We did not get that personal touch that we thought we would get from somewhere that asserts itself not as a hotel but as a private home.

I marked it as terrible, because I wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it, but as mentioned the location and bar are very nice. And from the reviews there seems to be lots of others that really liked the place, so my opinion is not definitive!!!
