My friend Helena and me stayed for two night in this house, was amazing and Sunaina is lovely and really good chef . Munroe island is like a dream we loved it. Thank you for everything
4 of us stayed here for two nights at the end of January, we all adored this place!
The homestay is run by the lovely Sunaina, who is honestly one of the best hosts we've ever had. She was friendly and welcoming, and really helped us to maximise our enjoyment of Munroe Island. The homestay itself is modern and very clean, the bedrooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable.
The food that Sunaina and the family provide is absolutely lovely, really tasty and Sunaina takes the time to walk you through each of the dishes explaining the ingredients and different tastes. One of our party had fish with his meal, which apparently was excellent.
Highly recommend this place, as a very relaxing and welcoming homestay in Munroe Island. The island itself is not hugely geared to tourists, however there are nice walks and boat trips that you can enjoy.
Thanks to Sunaina for making our time in Munroe Island so enjoyable!
Great rooms, great food and great hospitality! They halped us with everything we needed and more. A realy good way to experience Munroe.
This is a really lovely homestay on beautiful Munroe Island, a great place to stay away from the crowds. Concerning our room it felt more like a proper hotel as it was perfectly clean, with a hot shower and exceptionally well equipped (there was even dentifrice). But the true highlight is the owner, Sunaina, who was truly the most attentive host we stayed with during this holiday. Before we arrived we were not just simply given directions but already different suggestions for lunch, dinner and what to do in between (we did a wonderful canoe ride at sunset). The homemade food was also excellent, especially the green chromide (fish) for lunch, which is also the name of the homestay. Again, Sunaina wouldn't simply serve the food but explain the different ingredients and how it is prepared.
The property has also a nice garden right by the water with two hammocks where we spent most of our stay.
An excellent place away from the noisy polluted cities for a weekend getaway to relax and rejuvenate.
Munroe island is a not yet commercialized tourist place near Kollam (1hr) and Trivandrum (2-3hrs). The place is more famous amongst foreign tourists than Indians. If you ever have a choice between Allepey & Munroe Island , opt for Munroe island without giving a second thought. Its peaceful, calm amidst nature wherein you can get heart whisking view of nature.
Green Chromide, a homestay blessed with one of the best locations one could have asked for. Estuary of a river on one side and the Ashtamudi lake on the other.
The property is well maintained and is run by the owning family directly. It is accessible by road and you have ample place to park your vehicle.
Plenty of outdoor space to relax and enjoy (play games, read books njy TV etc)
Rooms are spacious and toilets are clean.
Food is as good as home made. Excellent kerala style meals. Please go for it. If you are a non vegetarian, Do ask for fish (specify preferences before hand and they will make an effort to get it for ya). Food is at reasonable price and of very good quality.
They arrange for cannoeing tours too on chargeable basis - early morning and evening. Highly recommended (1000~3hr tour across island). It will hardly touch your pocket.
They arrange for a motor boat which is a costlier option(2000~2hr). You can try for houseboats also..
We didn't get chance to taste the Green Chromide fish..but if it's at reasonable rate try that also..
Cons- ........Still thinking.
:::::::Hostile host with all the luxury at affordable price.
