“Wonderful accommodation in Beautiful surrounding, Marvellous attention to detail and Helpful advice from owner, Pippa”
Reviewed 26 February 2012 for a stay in April 2011

Staying at La Tour des Anges [the Angel's Tower] inside the medieval ramparts of Sablet, Vaucluse, was a most wonderful holiday experience. The charming village house overlooks the valley and hosts a delightful courtyard garden. [If you've seen the film; 'Chocolat', you'll be able to imagine exactly what this picturesque village looks like including it's 12 Century church, square and boulangerie.
The property interior is superbly stylish, spacious and portrays the very essence of France. In house; immaculate quality surroundings with everything we needed. Incredibly equipped kitchen [we learned Pippa is a very keen cook] and as the bathroom is set in the Watchtower, you can feel a sense of history as you look over the valley through the arrow splits - from the bath !
The owner, Pippa is delightful, making our stay special; she had everything covered and took time to explain about the property and places to visit.
We took a picnic to the vineyard-clad countryside, drove to the local towns, antique markets, Chatenuef-du-Pape, Nimes and Avignon - and of course, the wine co-operatives.
All round experience - My husband and I would definitely recommend La Tour des Anges. A wonderful time to be remembered - Couldn't ask for more.

“A great place to stay in the Southern Rhone wine area”
Reviewed 8 February 2012 for a stay in September 2011

My wife and I stayed here the last week in September and first two weeks in October in 2011. Let me point out right away that we liked it so much, we booked it right away again for this year (2012). The house was great. It's location in the old part of the village, built right into the ramparts and looking over the vineyards in the valley where we could watch the sunset from the garden, the master bedroom, or the living room. The master bath built into the tower in the ramparts is unique and very well equipped. My wife and I are both avid cooks and we usually cooked breakfast and often dinner with wonderful fresh products from the local épicerie, boucherie, and boulangerie or from those in neighboring villages and weekly markets. Everyone was so pleasant and they soon recognized us and greeted us when we passed by or came in. The poissonnier and a few other vendors show up weekly, and there is a great weekly market in nearby Vaison-la-Romaine. The local bar is a great place to sit and have a coffee after a walk or just to enjoy the village. Sablet has a number of wineries in town - we can recommend Domaine du Pourra. Gigondas and many other wine villages like Cairanne are close by as are many terrific restaurants. Our favorite was Le Grand Pré in nearby Roaix. It is a charming 1-star Michelin restaurant with wonderful staff and incredible food - let the staff recommend wines, they have some unique wines available.
Parking is below the house at the base of the ramparts, but it was always easy to get a spot and it's a quick walk up the rampart steps to the house. We walked through the vineyards to nearby Séguret and had a long lunch at Restaurant Le Mesclun and also visited Domaine de Cabasse which had some very nice wines and the women there was very pleasant as she walked us through the wines and we left with another great bottle for dinner.
The owner, Pippa, was a joy to deal with. She made the whole process easy for us.We often ate out in the garden looking over the vineyards and the Rhone river in the distance except when the Mistral was blowing for a few days. This was so central to all of the places we wanted to go (and many we still want to visit or see again). We had previously stayed other places in Provence, but this was near perfect for us.

“Sublime”

We had a perfect week staying at Les Tours des Anges. The house has been beautifully & thoughtfully renovated by the owners and much care has gone into thinking of and providing everything necessary to make their guests stay as welcoming and relaxing as possible. Sablet is a beautiful, quiet hilltop fortified town. It's totally unpretentious and has everything needed in terms of shops and possibly the best bakery I have come across.
It's great cycling territory, we'd cycle to nearby villages & towns stopping for lunch in lovely villages. There are rides for every ability. There's so much to do & see in the area, we barely scraped the surface.

“Provencal heaven!”
Reviewed 5 February 2012 for a stay in October 2011

Very comfortable self-catering accommodation in rooms set into the town ramparts. This property has been very tastefully restored without losing its wonderful character. Bed was extremely comfortable. The views are beautiful and the location is 5 minutes from the local shops. There is excellent cycling through picturesque vineyards (flat) or Mont Ventoux (ridiculously steep) is nearby. Bikes are available from the owner.
The area has lots of lovely villages and towns to visit and a lot of history.
I cannot praise the owner/manageress too highly, we were made to feel really welcome.
We will certainly return

“Stunning and unique French experience”
Reviewed 4 February 2012 for a stay in July 2011

Travelled here with my Father, my wife and our 10 year old son and we had an amazing week. Incredible building in Ramparts, with stunning views over sunny vineyards. The bicycling was superb on narrow, car-less roads which wind all through the pretty vineyards. Beautiful house with lovely backyard & BBQ. The village is fantastic with the perfect Boulangerie and a well-appointed mini Supermarche. Brilliant market one day a week (can't remember which day) where we bought 30 mugs for €20 made by the man selling them! Great wine, great restaurants - we will definitely be back!
