“Excellent accommodation, location and hosts”
Reviewed 30 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Sablet is one of many small pretty villages in the area. However it has the advantage of 2 bakers, a butchers and a general store for your everyday shopping needs. It is also on the bus route between Orange and Vaison La Romaine(stops in front of the mayors office). The apartment is exactly as shown in the photos, well maintained and clean. It had everything I needed for a weeks self catering(including maps and cycling route advice).
I travelled by Eurostar and arrived in France during a train strike. After a few transport woes me and my rucksack were picked up at the side of the road a couple of miles from Sablet by Paul together with a most welcome chilled bottle of water. Totally recommended and I hope to return.

“Marvellous stay”
Reviewed 11 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We had a memorable one week stay at the Petit Portal. The apartment was all we hoped for - very comfortable and well equipped. Sablet is a gem. Linda and Paul were extremely helpful and excellent hosts.

“Everything one would hope for!”
Reviewed 15 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

At the rate of sounding too effusive I will be!
We are at the end of a 3 week stay at Le Petit Portail and leaving with hopes to return next year.
The apartment is as photographs indicate..incredible views ones own piece of Provence.
Sablet is a working hilltop village visible from a distance by the tower.
It's a great place from which to visit the towns and markets in the region...we have picnicked in about every possible place..
The apartment is well equipped and any need that one might perceive as not being met the owners will meet!
I have left Linda and Paul to the end..they are helpful, interesting and in short great "hosts"

“Friendly town, wonderful location, complete amenities--Petit Portail has it all.”
Reviewed 21 November 2012 for a stay in September 2012

Our week in the Petit Portail gave us a Provence experience that met--and often exceeded --all of our hopes. We arrived in the late evening as fierce mistral winds were buffeting the whole region, but Linda, our host, assured us that calm would return the following day. And it did.
With the aid of maps and books in this utterly quaint (though spacious) apartment, we were able to map brief trips to small villages along a loop road as well as larger towns in the Vaucluse region. But the favorite part of each day was returning to the calming atmosphere of our rental apartment in Sablet.
English-speaking Linda and her husband have laid out and decorated the space thoughtfully. They live just around the corner. Convenient appliances are all in good working order. And the view out of the north-side windows is spectacular.
The public square of Sablet is just a 3-minute walk away, and we were fortunate that on the Sunday morning we were in town, we happened upon a village-wide rummage sale. It was a hoot, and we bought some small packable items.
Store hours in the village are unpredictable, but do check out the boulangerie and the butcher shop.
I have yet to encounter anyone--including a local French chef here in our own Pennsylvania home town--who has ever heard of Sablet. That makes it extra-special and extra-exclusive for us. You will not go wrong reserving this memorable place for that stay in Provence you may have dreamed about.
Of course, if the snootier, more fashionable and more crowded offerings of Nice and the southeastern coast of France are more to your liking, don't stay here. For us, however, Provence means rural and rustic, which Sablet epitomizes.
