Let me start by saying that we loved the lady that runs the hotel as well as the stagair that did the breakfast. Service was also perfect; our son could stay for free in our room. The big 'but' to this place is that it is truly over priced. During our trip to Saint Martin we stayed in 5 different places , which made it easy to compare. Privilege Resort is a friendly place, but is not worth the money we had to spend (EUR 200 excl breakfast, which also cost EUR 15 per person). The place definitely needs soms renewal and modernisation (paintwork, woodwork, pool) etc - especially when the price is so high. During the day it is impossible to chill by the pool since there were no sun umbrellas nor did they put on cushions (a bit hard to sit on like this) - which is why we just left the hotel during the day to return when the sun went down and temperatures went down. The place simply looks better on the pictures than in real life, or at least that was our experience.

Stayed over Christmas and New Year. Enjoyed our spacious room with huge shared patio overlooking Anse Marcel and nearby Anguilla. Marie and her staff were exceptional, always ready to offer recommendations for restaurants, beaches, shops etc. We enjoyed the daily patio breakfast and the companionship of the dogs, Marcel and Lola!
This is a wonderful quiet location for couples or mature families. Great beaches are nearby and it doesn't take long to drive anywhere on the island, bar the occasional traffic jam around Marigot or the airport roundabout. If you are looking for casinos and clubbing, stay on the Dutch side!

It was our second time at the island. We love Anse Marcel beach and found this small boutique resort in the hart of area.
Because it's not on the beach ( about 10 min away), we enjoy quiet time when you need it.
It's a small, nice, boutique style resort with great owner Mari. Upon our arrival, she upgraded our room without additional cost, to accommodate us, just because larger room was available.
Being herself as a designer, she managed to create very unique atmosphere in resort. Every room, pool area, launch area has own signature touch. Composition of colors, paintings, pictures give this hotel truly remarkable and own presentation, that differ it from chain hotels.
Ohh, morning coffee!! Breakfast personally served by Carlotta, - charming Italian girl that we missed upon coming back home.

Of course you can get information about island life everywhere, but true advise about french life in french part of island you can get only from french woman. Mari is great as an owner, manager, and as person.

I truly recommend this place for people who seek quiet atmosphere surrounded by gorgeous landscape and personal attention from good host.

Room Tip: North side facing sea

Anse Marcel is a truly fantastic spot on a great and diverse island.
Marie is a fantastic hostess and made sure our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. The rooms are just huge, beautifully decorated, perfectly maintained and offer incredible views of this privileged area. The atmosphere is that of an exclusive and relaxed boutique hotel.
With a rental car, we were able to visit the many attractions on the island. Grand Case near here, has an incredible range of restaurants, from the typical lolo (great bbq) to the more sophisticated French cuisine.
The beach at Anse Marcel is pretty, the waters calm. Lovely place!
Could not believe the low rating given by another reviewer. He clearly got the wrong place, as there are no restaurant underneath the hotel. Not sure about his driving skills either: the roads may be a bit steep at times, but nothing to write home about.

After a disappointing experience on the Dutch Side, we returned to Anse Marcel, this time staying at the Privilege Hotel. What a beautiful spot! Tucked up on the hill overlooking Anse Marcel Beach with a lovely pool and deck area, and a great room. We stayed in the Safari Room which was wonderfully decorated and had a large balcony looking over the pool with views of the water. The bed was firm and comfortable, Marcel the dog was a friendly companion, and the lovely proprietress was helpful, friendly, gracious and welcoming. There was tons of closet space and a small fridge in the room. We weren't able to have breakfast in the morning, but were offered a cup of coffee before we left. It was quiet, chill, comfortable and unique. I will stay there again when I have time in St. Martin. PS - "The Mountain" is similar to any hill side on any island. We had no problem doing a normal speed in a tiny rental.
