Hunting through Google for a crayfish meal, this cafe popped up. A telephone call verified that we could get fresh cooked crayfish (southern rock lobster for The purists) and it wouldn’t be messed with by the kitchen with Mornay sauces etc - just a side salad and chips. True enough it was just as described- fresh cooked with juicy dribbles when the one remaining leg on the half body was snapped. Where do all the legs go? Even the poor creature in the aquarium tank awaiting its fate had most of its legs missing. Didn’t happen back in the 1970’s - can’t see what’s different now in catching and cooking!!
I hardly touched my salad or chips (can get that anywhere) as I came for crayfish and this unassuming cafe in a shipping container delivered. Friendly and efficient staff and service. It wasn’t cheap at around $50 with a soft drink and half crayfish but as it seems hard to find places that provide what I was seeking taste wise we didn’t really care.

We have been a few times before and it’s been ok. Today has left us very disappointed and have no plans to return. Fisherman’s basket very average - fish was tasteless and oily - the crumbed calamari was dry. The lemon pepper calamari was chewy and tasted very plain. The eating area needs a good clean. The price is dearer than Hobart.
The best pet was the chips! $50 for a very ordinary fish and chips for 2 people.

We visited with the plan of sitting down to eat our meal but we were too close to closing time, so we took it as a take away. I was able to have my fish grilled as an option and some salad was included. My husband's seafood basket was a little oily but overall quite tasty.

Hubby had fish of the day ( blue grenadier) absolutely fantastic cooked to perfection maybe a few too many chips. I has the seafood chowder best i have had yet with lots fish ,salmon , scallops & prawns served with lightly toasted bread to die for. Service was great & friendly staff no wonder they were voted the best fish & chips in Aus. will definitely return.

Good place for dinner. Seafood are fresh and service are quick and fast. Staff are friendly too. Please book in advance as the place is small and the seafood runs out fast.
