Couldnt imagine anything better!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Apr 2009
Absolutely loved every minute of it. I didn't think 20 hours in Phuket would be long enough to relax before we headed off for Beijing and then on a trekking holiday, but it was!

From the moment you enter the resort, and receive an ice-cold glass of apple juice and a cool refreshing towel, to getting to your room and discovering that it is clean, cool, spacious, with everything you could think of (as mentioned before, the minibar, robes, sandals, plus toiletries, fluffy towels, a great view, and even frangipani flowers on the bed and in the bathroom). The pool is the perfect temperature, warm enough to enter without doing the whole "do I just jump in and brave it or do I inch in and get used to it" dilemma, but cool enough that you don't feel cold when you get out or sit at the swim up bar. The cocktail menu is long enough to find something you like but not so long that you spend hours deliberating - although the bartender was happy to make up any cocktail we could think of. There's a gym on the rooftop, fairly small but with enough machines to get a workout if you are a gym junkie, although I'd recommend going across to the beach and enjoying the outdoors. Theres also a shop with clothes, and a place to book tours.

The day spa was heaven, and although a bit more expensive than other places in old phuket street, the experience was fantastic, with a lovely setting and calm music and masseuses which you don't get down the street. The sunset view from the rooftop garden is well worth it, and the daybeds up on the roof were a great way to chill out and read a book for a while, as was the courtyard in the centre (with a small foreign book exchange too).

The restaurant had plenty of seats and a happy hour that lasted three hours (don't get that in Australia!) but we didn't eat there - we ended up wandering just down the street to eat at one of the many smaller restaurants down the road - the view of the beach from the hotel restaurant was better.

I"ve stayed here twice, 1997 & 2007! I quite enjoyed it because we could walk to everything, the beach is across the road, brekky was yummy,Security-guard very entertaining,Reception very friendly, maids were helpful! The room was clean but a few mosquitos but thats normal for the tropics! The pool was clean & quiet, the only suggestion is they should have a Happy-hour & music & a fun waiter! Massage was good! I booked directly & they were prompt! I would recommend this place if you like to be close to everything! The Thai people are a very nice culture & I hope you enjoy & understand there life! Dont be demanding on them as they're trying there hardest usually! Jetski's across the road at beach are fun! Markets are closeby & entertainment, heaps of nice restaurants, try the small Thai restaurants instead of big expensive places! I would go here again as the price is reasonable & its relaxing! Enjoy!!

well where do i start i went to thailand on the 15th of january 2009 for 2 weeks we stayed 3 nights in bangkok then traveled on to phuket- my partner an i stayed in the south sea karon resort for 11 days it was just beautiful. dunno what all the other bad reviews are all about on here because i couldnt find 1 single fault.
the staff were so welcoming and friendly, the food is lush we stayed b&b there so we only had our breakfast but that was just delicious a good variety of fresh fruit pastries cereals plus thai style breakfast ( noodles rice soup ) freshly cooked omelettes with a variety of fillings- would reccomend really nice or theres cooked breastfast. we did dine in the hotels restaurant twice was on the more expensive side priced about £7-12 but the food was very well presented and very yummy! there are loads of little cafes/restuarants everywhere so you will never be stuck for choice where to eat. - these we found were more resonabaly priced £3- 5 a meal.
the room we stayed in was over looking the hotels pool next door but it was very quiet and not much noise at all. the room was very clean maid service every day- who did there job very well 2 bottles of complimentry water every day. the room and en-suite were basic but it was all what we needed very clean fresh and very comfortable beds.
we went to karon beach every day its literally jus 1 minute over the other side of the road we got crossed over the road every day by the hotels security who was a very nice chap very funny!! the beach is very very clean there are water sports jet ski, banana boat, para sailing, para gliding, and many more! even though all that is going on overall the beach is quite quiet and relaxing! the water is crystal clear and warm- went swimming in it every day! loved this beach so much!
there are loads of bars and other things to do in karon trips i highly reccomend goin to see fantasea, thai boxing, and the half day safari inc elephant trekking and phi phi island all were just amazing!!! overall this hotel and holiday were just everything i could have wished for already planning my next trip there! can not wait. hoped this has helped if you got any questions feel free to contact me will be posting my photos and videos real soon.
