What a great lodge to see the beautiful northern part of our province. The lodge is right on Gowganda Lake, which I swam in to cool off every night. We were taken by the lodge staff to remote lakes to catch over 40 fish each a day. Such a wonderful family running this place and great accomodations! We cooked our own meals every night in the cottages, however they also have their own meal plan you can purchase. Very worth while trip :). Thanks to our awesome guides Jack, Urs, Zach, and Ed!

Our fishing club The Happy Hookers has been taking a trip each year to various parts of Canada. There are six in the club and this was our 33rd consecutive year.

This year we went to Auld Reekie Lodge on Gowganda Lake. The Lodge was great and the Brunner family makes all their guests feel especially welcome. Urs, Diane and their children Shawna, Stephanie, Daniel and David look after you like part of their family. Zachary, the boat wrangler keeps the equipment ready to go and looks after your fishing adventures.

As we got older we slowly moved to American Plan accommodations. The food at Auld Reekie was outstanding and the service by Shawna and Stephanie was fine restaurant quality.

Fishing on Gowganda Lake was great; however the catching was challenging, so be sure to take advantage of the back country lakes. We fished the Wapus River, Penassi Lake, Duncan Lake.and Stumpy Lake. They are such picturesque lakes that we spent as much time exploring and enjoying the scenery as we did fishing.

The ride to Stumpy on the Auld Reekie shuttle is an adventure not to be missed.

On Duncan Lake we were checked by two Conservation Officers from the MNRF. Their approach was both professional and friendly. We are lucky to have these folks looking after our natural resources.

We were in Cabin #4 and the accommodations were among the best we have ever enjoyed.

Thanks Auld Reekie for making year 33 memorable.
