Such a blissful and sacred place of beautiful natural cave near a water stream which is said to be there from eras. Inside the cave there is a shivling on which water droplets fall naturally..u won't see any leakage of water in whole cave except the place above shivling...which creates devotion among people...and it got the name Tapkeshwar Mandir in Hindi means eeshwar par paani ka tapakna...it is believed that God Shiv taught dhanurvidya (archery) to Guru Dronacharya..
Dronacharya ji lived in this cave for years and that is why this cave is also called Dron gufa.. The story is like this - Once his child Ashwatthama was very hungry and wanted to drink some milk but their family could not afford milk then Ashwatthama prayed to shivji by standing on one leg till 6 months and after happy with his devotion shivji poured milk by dripping on shivling, Ashwatthama satisfied his thirst and hunger and shivji gave a boon of immortality to Ashwatthama. When kalyug started milk turns into water.
Do visit this this cave 'Bam Bam Bhole'

Visiting tapkeshwar ji temple is another must do in dehradun. So magnificent is the Swayambhu idol that one can keep watching for hours together. A divine feeling. The approach road us narrow so better take a small car. Parking is available. One has to walk 50 to 80 steps so be prepared. Do visit dronacharya s temple also. Relive mahabharat times. A great experience. Jai baba bholenath ki.

This really looks like a genuine ancient cave temple where you need to bend to enter. There is natural water dropping on the Shivling constantly which is nature's way of 24/7 abhishek. It has a lot of steps so the elderly may find it difficult but it is a different temple than any that i have visited so far.

Supposed to be the place where Dronacharya meditated, this temple can be dated thousands of years back in history. Located near the banks of river, one can well imagine how this place would have looked like thousands of years back and thats the reason perhaps Dronacharya chose this as place to meditate.

It is one of the best-located temples I have come across. It is wide and authentic. It has real based story and you can relate. It is on both the sides of the small river and makes you feel excited and calm. I would definitely recommend this to everyone to got and visit.
