“Excellent Gite with Sarah and James wonderful hosts”
Reviewed 28 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This Gite is beautifully presented and very spacious for a 2 bedroom cottage. Having each bedroom en suite is a bonus. It is very comfortable and English television a bonus for the long summer nights. The village is very quiet and a haven to come home to. There is no lack of sight seeing to do or perhaps just to gave a day at home relaxing by the (heated) swimming pool. Plenty of undercover parking. Huge Le Clerk supermarket only 8km away and very good restaurants abound. The cottage was very easy to find . On our last night we went to dinner at Le Petit Auberge in the next village 2km away. Fantadtic food and typical rustic French ambience. Thoroughly recommend this as well. Would happily go back for another visit to both the Gite and the restaurant!

Thanks so much for your review. There certainly is a lot to keep you occupied here. I think you stayed in our other two bedroom cottage Les Hirondelles, which has the same set up as Les Moineaux - (this is really for anyone who may be reading this review for a future stay! We have a choice of two, two bedroom cottages.) We hope you can return sometime in the future.

“Even better than it looked on the website, absolutely perfect!”
Reviewed 22 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Les Moineaux was an absolutely beautiful property set in wonderful countryside. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable as well as being sufficiently spacious to accommodate my husband and me and our 3 grown up daughters. The gardens were a delight, with trellises of roses and honeysuckle giving privacy as well as their beautiful scent. We really appreciated the pool, barbecue area and enjoyed sitting out in the garden in the evening watching owls and sipping the local champagne.
There was so much to do, from water sports, historic sights, and of course the champagne trail. James and Sarah were very helpful in giving us all the information we needed for an excellent stay, and we can also recommend the nearby Auberge at La Rothiere!

“Peaceful area wonderful gite.”
Reviewed 5 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

I stayed at Les Tourterelles in the gite Les Moineaux with my 13 year old son. The gite was clean and extremely comfortable. It was beautifully finished with quality furnishings and spacious. There were two bedrooms both with ensuite bathroom. There were so many thoughtful touches throughout. James and Sarah had the good balance of being available but not crowding us. Any queries were dealt with straight away. They were very helpful with information about places to visit and things to do in the local area, including printing out maps and giving directions. The pool was wonderful....clean and warm. Plenty of sunloungers and parasols. There was lots of garden games equipment available to borrow eg badminton, table tennis, boules, football. There were bikes to borrow. BBQs to use. There was never a moment when we thought 'oh if only they had............' it had already been thought of and made available.
We have stayed in many places in UK and abroad and this is the best we have come across. We hope to return and will recommend it to friends and family

“Stayed for four days - could stay a month!”
Reviewed 2 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We were two couples and we chose Les Moineaux based on recommendation of a relative who stayed there before. What a great pick! With two en-suite bathrooms the place is just perfect for two couples. Kitchen and living room are so furnished and equipped as to make a much longer stay very comfortable. Add to that the great hospitality and knowledge of the region of Sarah, the swimming pool, ping-pong table, bicycles etc. - it all adds up to a wonderful place to stay and an ideal base to tour this beautiful region. Highly recommended!

“Honeysuckle, roses. lavender and champagne!”
Reviewed 21 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We spent a week at Les Moineaux with our two teenagers. We had really excellent service from Sarah and James. They were always available and happy to help.. The gite is very well equipped and very clean. It has a lot of space and two bathrooms - very necessary! I particularly enjoyed the gorgeous bedlinen and it was great to have a big gas hob. They really have thought of everything. Even our (demanding) teenagers loved it - especially with free wifi.

This is a very pretty part of France and the village of Eclance is a nice place to be. From the garden you can look out over farmland and woods and my husband loved watching the sun go down from one of the sheltered little tables under the greengage tree.

The pool and garden area reflects a love of gardening and our private terrace was shielded by roses and honeysuckle. Sitting outside was a real pleasure. The pool is a proper pool - not just a cooling off plunge pool - and it is heated! The barn is a treasure trove with barbeques , croquet sets, bikes...for those who need more than a good book and a glass of champagne. There's ping pong and boules available too.... The way that the buildings are laid out means that you can have as much or as little privacy as you wish. We never felt that other people were too close, and enjoyed easy chats with other holiday makers or with Sarah and James whenever we bumped into them.

We visited Troyes - really beautiful town with lots of old buildings and a bustling restaurant quarter; Reims - for the Tour de France - we didn't have time for the Champagne houses; Essoyes, birthplace of Renoir; Clairvaux - the Abbey and the prison and we spent a day in Paris - a couple of hours by train. We went to Brienne and to some of the lakes in the area and the boys went cycling.

Shopping for food was easy in Bar sur Aube - there's a LeClerc and lots of little butchers and bakers, and we liked getting our fresh baguettes from the little van every morning.

I had a look around some of the other accommodations on offer as we'd love to return. A couple have wood burning stoves that would make them very cosy in the autumn or winter, and the interior decor and original artwork compliment the big spaces beautifully. Lovely wooden floors and big bathrooms mean that the holiday is a treat in every way. My sister lives in Canada and has North American expectations - she would love this place! We took advantage of the offer of an end of rental cleaning service - worth every penny and left to drive back to Calais determined to return to this lovely spot.

What a lovely review! Thank you so much. It reflects how much there is to see around here even though you had inclement weather for some of the time. Our dream was to provide relaxing spaces for you of which the plants play a great part. It is so wonderful to wander down the courtyard or sit on a terrace with the aroma of honeysuckle and/or roses wafting on a warm breeze.

Kindest regards,
Sarah
