Whilst it poured down this didn’t change the fact that “Rainbow Roy” made our day tonnes of fun! His personality brightened our day with an incredible amount of knowledge that both entertained and enlightened our trip to Santo. Professional, fun and quirky he really made our tour worth every cent. Stop reading this review and just book now and ask for Roy - you won’t regret it. Best time!

We arrived in Luganville a little later on the Carnival Spirit than expected but Eric was waiting for us. We did have to cut the secret trekking out but Eric took us to the Nanta blue hole, which was the highlight for my 14year old. We had some lunch and a swim at Port Olry which was magnificent and the coconut crab very yummy. We also went to Champagne beach and million dollar point. Eric was very informative and it was great to learn about the history and he also showed us the noni fruit which we were asking him about. Highly recommend Santo Heritage Tours if anyone is visiting Santo we had a brilliant day with a great guide.

Henry picked us up at our accommodation on time and took us on a tour of the highlights of the East Coast, which he tailored to our suggestions. We visited Champagne Beach, Port Olry and Nanda blue hole. The tour was very relaxed and Henry gave amazing insights into the history and traditions of Santo. We enjoyed the tour so much we booked a canoe trip to Riri blue hole as well, another place well worth visiting and to arrive by dugout canoe was very special. Thanks so much Henry!

Santo Heritage tours took our family on a Santo Highlights tour which was a true highlight. Our guide was "Rainbow Roy" - (because ROY can stand for Red Orange and Yellow) and he was fantastic. Roy has a wealth of information which he shares in a colourful way - culminating in a quiz at the end of the day , to see what we had remembered. He bought us young coconuts to drink, and pineapples and bananas to eat. He knew that the beach cafe at Port Olry could be slow and so ordered our lunches ahead. As well as taking us to Million Dollar Point and Champagne Beach Roy took us to the "secret" blue hole, which was wonderful. Highly recommended.

On the way to this hidden secret spot an hours drive from Luganville, Henry & Eric, our guides, pointed out interests along the way and included a stop for a morning tea of coconut juice and almonds from a roadside local stall. Several minutes before our arrival at the well appointed Lowethweth picnic and snorkelling destination we stopped to view Champagne Beach from a high position on the road.

On arrival we headed off into the bush and up a steep track which has been made easier with the placement of wooden stepping rounds. Although hot there was a pleasant breeze and views out to the ocean as we stopped for a breather. All the way our guides explained the range of plants and trees and the historical traditions and customs associated with this escarpment and cave. At the top we met local resident, Solomon, who showed us how to light a fire by rubbing a stick on another. This only took a minute to create a flame. The views were spectacular, even high enough to see back to Champagne beach and the cruise ship moored there.

Now came the interesting part; instead of going down the way we came up we went straight over the edge and with a bit of slipping and sliding and lots of laughter we were down to the bottom in Solomon's garden. it was actually easier than negotiating all those steps again! After an explanation of the vegetables being grown and a demonstration on how to catch wild life we were back to the van and off for a snorkel. The crystal clear water was only 50 metres away. We found plenty of colourful fish and some interesting coral as we snorkelled in the very bouyant water.

As were the only two on this tour rather than having a BBQ lunch we were driven to Port Olry beach where we had lunch at a local café overlooking the glorious beach. Lunch was delicious and with only a few metres to the water a swim was essential. What a beautiful place! We would like to spend more time here next time we are in Vanuatu.

On the way home we stopped at the Secret blue hole for a quick dip. The water was somewhat colder than the beach but definitely worth the stop.

We totally recommend Santo Heritage Tours to look after your wanderings on Santo. At no time were we rushed and all of our questions were answered with even more information than we expected.
As a point of interest my husband is 72 and I am 70 and although the trekking was a bit of a challenge we managed it surprisingly well.

Thank you Henry and Eric, you were wonderful.
