I cannot get enough of this place. Everytime I go to Bouctouche I must walk the boardwalk. This is a special place.

Spent two unplanned hours here instead of at Kouchibouguac National Park up the road due to car problems, waiting for the mechanic appointment time. The lovely young ladies at the tourist info centre directed us here when we expressed disappointment at not being able to get to the beach as planned, it was a wonderful suggestion. No entrance fee (though donations are gratefully accepted), beach for swimming for the non-faint-of-heart (there is seaweed, maybe sharp-edged shells, and bits of occasional crab carcass washed up on shore), and a wonderful boardwalk that follows the dune and allows great views out to the Atlantic.

It is not busy, very easy to find a good spot on the sand to stretch out your towel, or for those who found it too hot, possible to take refuge in the shade of the boardwalk. Need to bring all drinks and snacks as no concession stand, and need to be prepared for the fact that the restroom facilities follow ecological composting principles.

Otherwise, this is a gem on New Brunswick coast.

You would not forget a place like this.... otherwise you are ignorant or "blind".

It's a beautiful sandy beach with shallow waters in which you can walk or swim. It was not as cold as it could be in the water at the middle of August.

There were lots of local people with kids and also tourists from Quebec, United States and different parts of Canada.

We had a lovely time just sitting and sunbathing and also bird watching. We saw Common and Caspian Terns, Northern Gannets, Great Blue Herons, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Semipalmated and Solitary Sandpipers, Ringbilled Gulls, Herring Gulls, Greater Black-backed Gulls, Osprey, Cedar Waxwings, Song Sparrows, Yellow Warblers, Barn Swallows, American Crows, Canada Geese.

We highly recommend everybody to come here and enjoy it.

We visited The Dunes on a windy coolish day. It is a lovely place, but for some reason I expected the boardwalk to run the entire 10 km. in length. However, the actual boardwalk is just under 1 km. and I imagine the rest of the trail follows along the beach. There were lots of people wading in the warm, shallow waters off the beach. We drove from Moncton, and there is no signage once you turn into Bouctouche. It is actually another 15 minute drive hugging the shoreline. We thought our GPS was lying to us, and turned back when we were almost there and found out from the information centre that if we had just stayed on the road for a few more minutes we would have arrived. More signage would be so helpful! So don’t give up, you’ll find it eventually.

Our family has visited the Bouctouche Dune and Boardwalk multiple times. The Eco-Centre is well-down and has interesting interpretive panels to inform you as you walk. The dune is beautiful at all times of day -- lots of walkers and runners in the early morning, beachgoers at mid-day and families and couples walking at sunset. If you are really ambitious, wear a sunhat and pack lots of water, you can make it all the way out to the lighthouse at the end of the dune -- the walk there and back would take the better part of a day and is best broken up with some cooling swims. We have stayed in the area a couple of times and it is wonderful to have accommodation that looks out on the dune.
