“Simply the best place to relax!”

Having been back to Bot Coet for the fifth time in six years, we finally felt it was time to write a review and share the secret of one of the most welcoming and relaxing places we have ever stayed. Alice is a delightful, well stocked cottage with everything you could possibly need for a great holiday, and it is hard to match the tranquility of simply sitting on the bench by the front door, glass of wine in hand, watching the sun move round.

Our children loved Bot Coet when they were younger and, as teenagers, still do. The excellent facilities on site (including the all-important wi-fi!) mean that there is always something for them to do, and the self-contained nature of the grounds provides a safe environment for younger children to play.

Kim and Didier are wonderful hosts whose concern for their guests' wellbeing is second to none. Whilst allowing their guests space, they are always ready for a chat over a coffee or glass of wine and full of helpful information. There is so much to do in the surrounding area that even after five visits we are still finding new things to do, from kayaking to rock scrambling or shopping in Vannes, even exploring the peninsula at Crozon. This year's highlight was visiting the 'drowned' village at the Lac de Guerledan - simply amazing! The region is full of wonderful little towns and villages - a personal favourite is St. Nicholas des Eaux, a delightful riverside village with lovely walks, good cycling and kayaking and, most importantly, good food.

“Wonderful Holiday Experience”

If you are reading this then you are lucky because you may have found just what you are looking for.
When I am researching holiday accommodation I want something attractive to look at, in a scenic location, in excellent condition, large enough to store all the goods that I inevitably take with me & with lots of homely facilities. If you choose Alice Cottage you will not be disappointed.
If you are travelling from England, depending on which ferry crossing you take, it is possible to be at your destination in under two hours, which leaves you fresh & ready to start your holiday.
The owners of the property have put a lot of thought & effort into making this a very special place. It is welcoming from the minute you walk in, with the large dining table that just begs for family chats & the huge fireplace, the logs for which are replenished on a regular basis. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with everything you would have at home so it is easy to self cater if you want to & the whole house is spotlessly clean.
Outside there are lovely seating areas where you can sit & look at the garden flowers, the lovely well tended pool, or the view beyond to the meadows. There is another private area which can be used for outside dining. Even in May we sat out on a regular basis drinking our evening glass of wine.
The surrounding area is very scenic with short drives to the nearest little towns which have lovely small shops & a large supermarket should you need it. There are also many good places to eat & much information on this & everything else in the area can be found within the cottage, or Kim or Didier are always nearby if you need them for further help.
If you enjoy walking then this cottage makes an excellent base as we did an 11km, (can be shortened) well marked route from the door, which in May was so pretty with masses of bluebells, broom, rhododendrons & azalias. If you enjoy cycling then the routes are endless, but if you want to explore the area by car there is so much to see & do & the coast is a little further away but easily reached.
For children & teenagers staying at the cottage there are plenty of things to keep them well occupied & happy in both wet & dry conditions. There are books & games within the cottage & access to the internet. There is a separate games room which is full of activities or there is the pool of course & there is also a huge open space for outside fun.
We only stayed at Alice Cottage for one week but it was by no means long enough & we were very sad to leave.

“Alice Cottage, Bot Coet”

Alice cottage is a fantastic place to base a holiday in Birttany. Its central location means both north and south coasts are within reach as are lots of local visitor sites. The cottage itself is beautiful, and in an ideal setting - it's very easy just to camp out in the garden or by the pool and while away the hours in the sun. Hosts Kim and Didier are extremely friendly and helpful, and provide plenty of info to make your stay as easy as possible. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay, and would certainly return.

“The perfect retreat for our family!”

Our extended family of 11 (including my 95 year old Grandad and my children ages 4 and 1) thoroughly enjoyed staying at Bot Coet Cottages. We (my husband, 2 children and my husband's parents) stayed in Alice, my parents and grandfather stayed in Adele and my brother-in-law and his wife stayed in Elsa. The cottages were exactly as advertised, with safety gates at the top of the stairs (ideal for our youngest!). Kim and Didier couldn't have been more helpful, they gave us our privacy as well as join in our fun when we invited them, it was a beautiful balance. And the games room and swimming pool really helped us relax and merge well as a group (it being the first time both mine and my husband's families got together for such an extended period of time). It was lovely. Guémené-sur-Scorff was charming and only 5 minutes away. Josselin was beautiful. Kim and Didier's recommendations were spot on and we can't wait to return and visit more places nearby! I will always remember Bot Coet as the place my little girl learnt to swim and my baby boy learnt the word 'Happy', perfectly apt for the feeling we had in the gorgeous Alice cottage and surroundings. The perfect base for sight seeing and relaxing.

“Would love to go back!”

We recently returned home from an 8 night stay in "Alice". It was our first holiday as parents, travelling with our 18 month old daughter.

There was no hassle with enquries and booking. Kim was very prompt in replying to our queries. Prior to our holiday Kim sent us on a set of directions and we arrived at the cottages approximately an hour and forty minutes after getting off the ferry in Roscoff. Kim met us on arrival and brought us to the cottage. The cottage and gardens exceeded all our expectations.

The cottage had 3 bedrooms upstairs - two large double rooms along with a smaller room with a set of bunk beds. There is also a good sized bathroom with shower in bath. There is also a stairgate at the top for safety.

Downstairs there is a living/dining area (with sofa, stove tv, tables and chairs). There is a well equipped kitchen off the living/dining area, including washing machine and dishwasher. There was also a lovely quiet and sheltered patio/bbq area off the the living area. The cottage had a selection of books, board games and toys which was nice as well.

The grounds are lovely. Didier and Kim do a great job keeping the place looking so well. It was a bit cooler while we were there so we didn't use the pool but it is cleaned every day and is well maintained. Can imagine how nice it must be to lounge around in nice summer sun! There is also a badminton net and goal posts further down. There is also a well equipped games room which had a pool table, table tennis, table soccer and a toddlers kitchen.

Although BotCoet had all the modern home essentials it still manages to feel like your on holiday and switched off from the hassles and pace of life back home.

Kim and Didier are the perfect hosts. Both were extremely helpful with any queries we had. Our car was acting up a bit and as a previous reviewer mentioned Kim and Didier offered to help us out with a local mechanic.

The area is fabulous too. Guéméne sur Scorff is the nearest town (5mins away). It has a well stocked large Super Intermarché, open Mon-Sat. There is also a lovely bakery up at the top of the main street, we found this in the cottage information folder. We didn't eat out too much but we got a takeaway one evening from the Le Scorff pizzeria in Guemene. We also ate in another pizzeria in Languelan which we got from the folder. Both were nice. There is a lot of recommendations in the folder.

We went to Pont Scorff Zoo which was about 45 minutes drive and was well worth it. A trip down south to Trinité sur Mer, Port St Gustin is also recommended. Pontivy is not too far away and has more of the larger shops. It also has a Hyper Intermarché.

The highlight of the holiday for us was seeing how excited our daughter was when we went up to see Didier and Kim milking the cows. She had an absolute ball!

We hope to be back! If you book any of these cottages you will not be disappointed.
