“Would love to go back!”

We recently returned home from an 8 night stay in "Alice". It was our first holiday as parents, travelling with our 18 month old daughter.

There was no hassle with enquries and booking. Kim was very prompt in replying to our queries. Prior to our holiday Kim sent us on a set of directions and we arrived at the cottages approximately an hour and forty minutes after getting off the ferry in Roscoff. Kim met us on arrival and brought us to the cottage. The cottage and gardens exceeded all our expectations.

The cottage had 3 bedrooms upstairs - two large double rooms along with a smaller room with a set of bunk beds. There is also a good sized bathroom with shower in bath. There is also a stairgate at the top for safety.

Downstairs there is a living/dining area (with sofa, stove tv, tables and chairs). There is a well equipped kitchen off the living/dining area, including washing machine and dishwasher. There was also a lovely quiet and sheltered patio/bbq area off the the living area. The cottage had a selection of books, board games and toys which was nice as well.

The grounds are lovely. Didier and Kim do a great job keeping the place looking so well. It was a bit cooler while we were there so we didn't use the pool but it is cleaned every day and is well maintained. Can imagine how nice it must be to lounge around in nice summer sun! There is also a badminton net and goal posts further down. There is also a well equipped games room which had a pool table, table tennis, table soccer and a toddlers kitchen.

Although BotCoet had all the modern home essentials it still manages to feel like your on holiday and switched off from the hassles and pace of life back home.

Kim and Didier are the perfect hosts. Both were extremely helpful with any queries we had. Our car was acting up a bit and as a previous reviewer mentioned Kim and Didier offered to help us out with a local mechanic.

The area is fabulous too. Guéméne sur Scorff is the nearest town (5mins away). It has a well stocked large Super Intermarché, open Mon-Sat. There is also a lovely bakery up at the top of the main street, we found this in the cottage information folder. We didn't eat out too much but we got a takeaway one evening from the Le Scorff pizzeria in Guemene. We also ate in another pizzeria in Languelan which we got from the folder. Both were nice. There is a lot of recommendations in the folder.

We went to Pont Scorff Zoo which was about 45 minutes drive and was well worth it. A trip down south to Trinité sur Mer, Port St Gustin is also recommended. Pontivy is not too far away and has more of the larger shops. It also has a Hyper Intermarché.

The highlight of the holiday for us was seeing how excited our daughter was when we went up to see Didier and Kim milking the cows. She had an absolute ball!

We hope to be back! If you book any of these cottages you will not be disappointed.

“Just the loveliest of places to completely wind down”

Just like the previous reviewer, this is the first time we have ever felt compelled to write a review on a holiday property. We had such a wonderful holiday in Alice Cottage back in August 2012 and it is great to see it is now on Tripadvisor so we can give it the glowing report it so deserves! We spent a fortnight there with our three daughters aged 4, 8 and 10 who all had a complete ball. The cottage itself is so lovely and spacious and wants for nothing. The garden is very private, so despite the fact there are three other cottages on site, it never feels like you are 'invaded' by other holidaymakers. It is also perfectly situated a quick hop from the pool which the children made sure we jumped in every single day at some point, even in the rain after a full day out! The tasteful games room was very popular with the girls and they had the freedom to wander over and play table tennis, or attempt a game of pool, knowing we were just across the beautifully tended garden. One of their highlights has to have been going up to watch the cows being milked. Kim and Didier are such wonderful hosts without ever being intrusive and encouraged us to come and join in the evening milk run..(there is a story there but you must first stay and read the visitor's book..just don't stand below the cows as they are about to be milked) We would walk back down the blissfully quiet country lane with the freshest, creamiest milk - perfect the next morning in our coffee.
Although the location of the cottage is very rural, we had the most wonderful days out without spending too long in the car and felt we had the best of both worlds. The local village has the loveliest patisserie selling warm croissants and delicious bread and is just minutes in the car. As is the special local restaurant in Ploerdut, 'Chez Marie The' - very very local and so worth a lunch midweek. Beaches a good 45 minute drive away are great (Pouldu plage with it's lovely coves) the lovely town of Josselin with it's chateau, Trinite-sur-Mer with all the sailing boats, Pontivy, Vannes and Hennebont's Wednesday market all lovely visits, then back to the tranquillity of Alice Cottage and our resident owl as the sun went down.
Not sure if writing a review is a good idea as we are definitely planning a return visit in the next few years and wouldn't want to find it too booked out...Our thanks to Kim and Didier, who have created a very special place.

“Everything covered !”

We stayed here last September and wanted to leave a review then but property was not on trip adviser so pleased it now is and we can say what we thought !
Not one to usually review but we had such a great time we want to recommend .
20 years of gites in France with kids of all ages can honestly say this is the best . Alice is a very well converted and equipped gite ,it happily housed my husband and me and our teenage son .( his sisters and their partners occupied two of the other gites . ) 7 of us gathered in Alice and shared barbecues , breakfast and all meals when we were not out . The television was never turned on but is there with free view . Kids very pleased with dishwasher and washing machine ! Logs thrown on log burner added to ambiance .The games room was a great success when the weather was inclement , and I am assured the swimming pool was warm !
Kim and Didier were fantastic hosts on hand to advise were to go ,eat , shop , and although my husband speaks French the fact Kim is English and Didier 's English so good made everything easier . ( we had a car problem , which Didier sorted quickly and with no fuss ) beware Didier has a wicked sense of humour , his one liners and asides will have you in stitches .
Very rarely do we return to the same place but certainly will be going back .
Each gite is private should you want to be on your own and the games room and swimming pool enough removed to not disturb anyones privacy . The views are lovely and the sense of peace - but France has the the advantage of space .
We really felt that welcomed but given privacy and that while we were there it was our home !
