Our week here was simply superb. The setting is beautiful, and the house and gardens are in top condition. The whole experience left us rested and revitalised. Planning a return next year!
Set in the middle of rolling hills and fields of barley, sunflowers and grapes, Maison de la Vaure is a truly blissful place to spend a few days. Ian and Phil have decorated it with immaculate taste and are the friendliest people you could wish to meet. We were a group of 15 + kids, and we spent a very happy week playing in the pool, doing yoga in the barn, visiting nearby Cognac and St Emilion and (of course) enjoying long, lazy lunches and dinners, either outside on the terrace or inside in the beautiful dining room. The Wi-Fi is terrible, but that is just makes it even easier to disconnect from the world and enjoy the beauty around you. Thank you Ian and Phil! See you again soon!
I spent 6 days with a group of friends at Maison De La Vaure and loved every minute. The estate has been lovingly restored with so much attention to detail in everything from the beautiful grounds, to the amazing swimming pool and games area, the tranquil yoga barn and the stunning rooms in the house and cottages. Ian was a fantastic host and helped us to organise a private chef and a yoga class, which were both amazing and very much recommended. There is lots to explore in the neighbouring areas....although there was plenty to keep us occupied at the maison! Maison De La Vaure would be a great destination for friends or families looking for a relaxing getaway, for a retreat or a special occassion. I felt completely relaxed after my time there and very much hope to return in the future.
I recently enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing holiday at Mason de la Vaure. The house is secluded, set amongst beautifully maintained grounds with a sun-soaked swimming pool. The interior design is simply stunning; the attention to detail is evident throughout. It feels like being in the pages of Conde Nast.
The whole place was spotlessly clean and the rooms spacious and airy. I slept better than I have in a long time. The cozy cognac room is great for after dinner drinks or a spot of quiet reading, and the new yoga barn is a fabulous addition.
Transfer from Bordeaux airport was straight forward and there are easy access to shops a short drive away. The owners were very responsive and helpful.
I can't wait to go back!
I stayed at Maison de la Vaure in early August. The site and accommodation is breathtaking, just a short hop from Bordeaux airport and thoughtfully refurbished. However what really made the trip were the unexpected services available if required such as; a gourmet Chef, a curry service (!), Massages, yoga instructor etc.
It's also an excellent location for young children / infants. I can't recommend MDLV highly enough and hope to revisit in the very near future.
