I sandwiched two two-night stays at Coco de Mer around a four-day sail aboard the Summers' Day, a 42 foot cat owned by the resort. It was excellent all the way around. The resort had very good facilities, and the staff were thorough, timely, courteous, and nothing was too small for them to do. They pay attention to the small details that make the difference between a great vacation, and an excellent one. Sabrina Louange was one of many people who helped make my stay a truly memorable one. Sailing about the Summers' Day was a 4-day, 4-night excursion to the inner islands to visit bird and tortoise sanctuaries, swim, snorkel, and lounge. The crew was top notch. The skipper (Watson) knows the waters and the weather patterns, is very courteous, and endeavors to make each day a special one for the guests. His knowledge of area fishing is also impressive. The first mate, Renzo, I can't say enough of. Firstly, he's a superb cook, and what comes out of his galley is of the highest quality and pretty inventive. He's tireless and exceptionally courteous. Nothing is too small to escape his attention. He is always on the go, always doing something to make your time on board worth it. They are both an excellent team. All in all, I can think of another place that I'd want to return more to !

Room Tip: I had both the standard and the superior room. The superior room is closer to the pool, but they are both quite good. You won't go wrong with either.

We travelled here in April 2012, the resort is a little isolated, but the island is small so it is easy to get around. Food varied and of a good standard.

The delux room was good, but a little small for four of us (2 children). Not to miss is taking the ferry to La Digue (15 minutes), this island is by far one of the best to visit for character and places of interest.

Overall, the resort is good, but expensive as are most hotels in the Seychelles.

We were booked in for 6 nights at the Black Parrot Suites as part of our honeymoon. I knew as we were arriving in the taxi that this place wasn't for me. It was old, grounds were not spacious or luxurious and it had more of a feel of a guest house than a anonymous luxury hotel which I prefer.

We had spent 5 nights in Constance Ephelia on Mahe prior to coming here and there is simply no comparision even though they are the same price. It mystifies me how a resort like this get's such positive reviews. I definetly got misled into thinking this was the luxury type resort I was seeking.

Firstly the resort is squeezed in between the road and the sea on a narrow hillside strip of land, 10 acres at most, I don't know where they are hiding the rest of the 200 acres they claim on their website. The Constance Ephelia claims to be approx the same size and you need a golf cart to get around it's so big.

The Black Parrot Suites themselves are very poorly designed, comparable to one of those low budget package holiday type apartments. Cheap furniture and fittings, cheap tiles, uncomfortable bed, noisy basic air con unit sitting on the wall, curtains that don't close properly, and a couch unit that's as hard as a rock. The bed is placed in the middle of the room, and i'm not sure if it was this, the curtains not closing or the noisy air conditioning unit but I never got a good nights sleep. Corners were definetly cut on the fit out.

The facilities are not 4 star either. You can only order room service for evening meal and that has to be done before 7pm. You would laugh at the amateur menu they leave in your room. Otherwise you have to go to the buffet which costs an incredulous €45 per person excluding drinks, it's poor fare especially the deserts and we both felt like we watched like a hawk incase you may dare to go back for seconds. Absolutely no comparision to the Constance.

A lot of the guests seemed to be older couples from continental European and South Africa, maybe they prefer the more homely rustic guesthouse type hotels. I suspect a lot are getting very good package deals that we didn't.

There was 9 of us staying at the Coco de Mer for our daughters wedding. The hotel could not do enough for us. Everyone was friendly and helpful and our daughters day was fantastic. We had a Superior room which was right beside the pool and we had a lovely view of the beach. The hotel is a little way away and you need transport to go anywhere so you can have a very quiet relaxing holiday. They let us keep our room at no extra charge on the last day a the hotel was a bit quieter. The only downside to this holiday was the travelling as there was 3 flights each way. If you are changing currency to take, at the moment they like the Euro.

Room Tip: The Black Parrot suites are fantastic if you are a couple travelling with no children as they have their own pool and it is a little way off from the rest of the complex so very quiet. Superior rooms closer to the pool.

We were in the Seychelles for two weeks. The first five days we stayed at the Coco de Mer. The reception was friendly and efficient with a tropical welcome drink when arriving. We were allowed to check in early which was great when you have been travelling for many hours. The room had a nice design, fresh flowers, nice patio and were facing the ocean. And it was really clean. On the lawn in front of the room there were beach chairs and a hammock. really great to sit and watch the palm trees. The breakfast had a wide variety of food. Omellettes and pancakes made fresh for you. Really good. Evening buffet varied every night and is good to go for if you don't want to go out with the car in the evening. It is not cheap (650 rupees) but remember that this is a first class hotel (even if it is relaxed). The hotel recommended a reliable car hire company. Approx Euro 40 day for a small car. Don't take a big car, the roads are narrow. We rented a car for three days to allow us to see the island and the different beaches. It is well worth the money to get the flexibility.
