“Wonderful, relaxing holiday”
Reviewed 10 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Nafsika. The pool is amazing and with seven adults in it it never felt over-crowded. The villa is well-equipped, with plenty of space for sitting inside and outside, and lots of shade. The bedrooms have really effective air-conditioning, which was vital as it was 42 degrees when we arrived. It was my birthday when we were there and Valia and her team from the Olive Farm in Litsarda cooked an amazing meal for us at the villa. The pizza restaurant in the village is to be recommended, but they don't have a menu -- you just tell them what you want and they make it! Only criticism was that the villa was full of flies when we arrived, but a quick call to Authentic Crete, and we were brought some fly spray and managed to get rid of them all. Will be back next year hopefully.

Management Response

Thank you Karen,
We are pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay and the villa! A rainy day in June which washed away the professional spraying of the outdoor area and then the sudden and strong heatwave , caused this invasion of insects,it has all been taken care of now...
Looking forward to having youat Nafsika next year if you decide...
Kind regards
Ariadne

“Cretan paradise, wonderful for young children”
Reviewed 3 November 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We had a superb stay at Villa Nafsika in August 2016 with our three children aged 2, 6 and 8. The toddler pool was absolutely perfect for our 2-year-old, who was able to safely splash about while the rest of us were in the big pool, or on the sunloungers. While staying here, we discovered a wonderful place called The Olive Farm, just around the corner, run by Handpicked Greece. Here we indulged in a morning's olive oil cosmetics workshop, making soaps and body oils. The Olive Farm were also able to arrange for a chef to come to our villa and cook us a delicious dinner one evening, served on our beautiful terrace. Ariadne from Authentic Crete was wonderfully helpful after our stay at Villa Nafsika, posting a large package of left-behind library books to us in the UK! Very generous and helpful.

“Beautiful villa in a beautiful location”
Reviewed 27 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

This was our fist visit to Crete, and as with the other Greek islands we have holidayed in we weren't disappointed. The island is lovely, the locals so very friendly and welcoming and the villa so tranquil. The villa itself is very roomy and nicely presented, it was clean and the housekeeping mid way through our stay was excellent with a lovely local lady who was very helpful. There was plenty of hot water on demand for showers. The pool was fabulous, clean and the inclusion of pool towels a very nice feature. The gardens were exquisite, very peaceful with the occasional sound of the goat bells around us. The swallows skimming the pool surface of an evenings to drink was a delightful site. The wifi was first class and very fast. Whilst not going on holiday to watch TV, don't expect any English speaking TV as there isn't any. On a point of information, be aware that the provision milk in the 'welcome' pack may mean that you get a tin of 'Condensed' milk, so perhaps pick some up at the supermarket if you don't fancy that.
On the negative it must be said that the eco friendly room cooling system (not really air conditioning) caused us issues. We didn't raise this with the local agents at the time as when we spoke with the housekeeper she appeared to know about it. After a couple of days one of the downstairs bedrooms along with its bathroom started to form puddles of water (condensation) across the floors. Over the days this spread to the other downstairs bedroom and main bathroom, and finally to the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms. Whilst this didn't spoil the holiday it was uncomfortable and in fact dangerous, as water and tiled floors are slippery. It was clearly a condensation problem caused through there being a cold floor with warm ambient air. As said we didn't raise this with the local managing agent as the housekeeper knew about it, but we have upon return spoken with the UK agent who will raise it with the owner as it may of course be a fault. Finally, with regard the directions provided, these were perfect up till the last turn which told us to look out for a 'wheelie bin' unfortunately as the name suggests its on wheels and it wasn't there, but we found the villa.

“We called this villa "The Garden of Eden"”
Reviewed 9 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Villa Nafsika (known as Villa Litsarda if you book through thehotel.gr)) is one of the best villas we've rented in our many visits to Crete over the last 23 years. Its position, in hills above Almerida with no close neighbours except sheep, suited us well as we come here for peace & quiet after a busy season at home. The bells the sheep wear became the pleasant background sound to our stay.

The villa is very well equipped and everything, including the free WiFi, functioned perfectly. The eco design is interesting and the decor pleasant. Everywhere there is a feeling of spaciousness and having a large bathroom to each bedroom is useful.

The jewel in Villa Nafiska's crown for us was the beautiful garden and large swimming pool. The planting of lantana right next to the terrace is a bonus that we hadn't come across before; it attracted many sorts of butterflies, moths and bees right up to the terrace. Also good to see that the 3 Cretan palms in the garden are thriving and haven't fallen prey to beetles. Many of the shrubs and flowers attracted bees and butterflies and there was a constant happy buzz whenever the sun shone. The range of the Lefka Ori in the distance completes a wonderful picture. The gardeners/pool maintainers are to be congratulated. The garden has been beautifully planted and is well looked after. The pool is an absolute delight; large, deep and cool and one of the cleanest we’ve ever seen.

One thing we did notice is that at the time of year that we stayed – late September to early October - you do get more sun and warmth on the coast than in the hills above. For many days during our visit the clouds over the mountains spread low enough to exclude sun from the villa and garden, whereas we could see from our balcony that the coastline was in full sun. I don’t think this would be a problem at all during the summer months in fact the slightly lower temperature that comes with the higher altitude would be welcome.

A small thing to point out is that no pools towels are provided, so do bring your own.
Although we were just a couple staying at the villa, there is certainly plenty of room for 8 people as the proportions of both internal and external spaces are generous.

There are plenty of good beaches within a 15-minute drive. Almyrida and Georgeopoulis are probably the best known but our favourite was a long quiet stretch of sand west of Kalives. Turn down the little road to the sea opposite INKA supermarket, then left when you reach the beach. There are a couple of places to have coffee and eat but mostly it’s just sand, sea and views to Acrotiiri.

We had a lovely time at Villa Nafsika and hope to return one day.

“Tranquil villa setting”
Reviewed 15 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

How lovely and peaceful, no neighbour's for some distance yet right within walking distance of the village of Litsardi. Villa superb with two downstairs bedrooms which is hard to come by. WiFi only worked when taking the device outside. We loved watching the birds swoop down to the pool for the occasional drink. The gardens are very pretty.
I found wheelchair access good in and around the villa as there were no steps however the crazy paving was uneven in places so my wheels got caught every now and again. The bathrooms are a reasonable size and can accommodate a wheelchair. Shower over bath arrangement with large, high sinks with cupboards under. There was a sink in the upstairs bathroom that you can get sit under which would have been more suited to the ground floor bathroom, however I managed.
The large pool was great for swimming and I made use of the small pool as as a therapy area. Great for toddlers too!
All in all, this villa is superb and I managed to get around fine in a small wheelchair and would like to come back.
